Hope they work it out.
Yes indeed! We've been using live-build up to date, and since Raphaël Herzog has become its maintainer I guess it will continue to be an option, at least for a while. Still, I suppose eventually we're going to have to get to grips with live-wrapper...

If Debian abandon the live images we may be able to use Refracta's tools to generate our own:

Well, I don't think live-build is going anywhere soon, and we already have a handle on that.

Linux Mint have started a collection of "generic" apps called X-Apps, based on the usual suspects, but intended to be environment-agnostic, to work on all the LM versions interchangably: https://www.linuxmint.com/rel_sarah_mat … .php#xapps
It might turn out that there's something in there that BunsenLabs can use.

^ They are all nice apps, but ATM the dependencies are not satisfiable on stretch it seems (for the LM debs).
xplayer was particularly nice I found.

X-Apps
What a fantastic idea, I love those.
I think we should make them the default applications for Lithium. 8o

^Maybe by Buster the dependencies will be available...
...or should we base Lithium on LMDE?
O:)

Well, it has been a little bit boring having a distribution that just works™ so yes, perhaps it would be fun to try something different... ]:D

I am very impatient so here is Xed (the text editor), ported to Debian stretch (and various Ubuntu versions as well):

I will port the rest over when I have a minute.

xplayer was particularly nice I found.
I'm finding this little blighter a bit tricky to package because it has a web of interconnected dependencies and the configure script seems to be using a syntax that is not compatible with the stretch version of automake
To fix this I will have to build a custom .deb properly in my Debian system and drop the files from that into my openSUSE Build Service repository (at the moment I'm just dragging&dropping the files from the Mint servers to my OBS site using my OpenBSD box).
Anyway, I've managed to build the basic Xplayer package for BunsenLabs Hydrogen/Deuterium & Debian jessie (plus a few *buntu ones as well):
https://software.opensuse.org//download … ge=xplayer
I could add the plugins later, I think.

Use maybe to See What a Command or Script Will Do, Without Runing It
Available in the Stable (Stretch), Testing, and Unstable repos.
Caveat: Considered alpha quality by the developer. Do not use maybe to run untrusted code.

I liked it too, I'll just never remember it.

^That's what tip databases are for. I use Treepad under wine. Cherry Tree might be an acceptable alternate, although I looked at it awhile back and wasn't impressed compared with Treepad.
There is a version of Treepad for Linux, but it will only store text; no pics, no text formatting. I'm also not certain if you can change the tree icons in the Linux version.

Debian Policy 4.1.0.0 released:
https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-a … 00007.html
https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-a … 00003.html
Some changes, including:
2.5
The extra priority has been deprecated and should be treated as
equivalent to optional. All extra priorities should be changed to
optional.11.8.3
The required behaviour of x-terminal-emulator -e has been
clarified, and updated to replace a false claim about the
behaviour of xterm.Programs must support `-e command` where command may include
multiple arguments, which must be executed as if the arguments
were passed to execvp directly, bypassing the shell. If this execution fails and -e has a single argument,
xterm's fallback behaviour of passing command to the shell
is permitted but not required.
