Lithium test iso available

FWIW The live iso fails to boot on my Dell i5 Gen10 Intel chipset. It seems to die when attempting to load lightdm. The following are the particulars on my machine albeit running a special Debian version of MXLinux. Thus far all Debian-based distros seem to dislike my Intel Gen10 chipset.

Hi everyone,

I managed to install it and it's working well (so far). I've installed mpv, the console media player,and am currently listening to a 320kbps stream for a BBC radio station (Radio 2), and have changed the conky configuration to a more generic one.

I'd like to add some more typefaces to use in word processors such as LibreOffice Writer, but that probably belongs elsewhere on the forum

The computer spec is this; Packard Bell iMedia 6020 (from 2006) with an AMD Athlon 3800+ CPU (single core), 4 GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard drive.

Second - if I use test now and then want to seamlessly migrate into the stable, how much of PITA will it be?

Edit. I am unable to download the iso. Getting chromium rn and I'll try on Windows as well. If all fails I'm going Helium and hey ho!

The only thing you will need to do is to change repository. Eventualy investigate new usersettings for default user in /usr/share/bunsen/skel.

Lithium is Debian Stable (Buster). Helium is now old-stable.

NB The default user session is now bl-session, which does not use the Openbox rc.xml and menu.xml. They are still available though,

True. But trust me, if there isn't some weird quirk going on, lithium's stable. We haven't had any major bug reports, and its first boot after installation is way faster than the boot-glich that made helium's first boot a little weird. The login to the default bl-session is smoother, the root menu is better, the themes are better (cough, YMMV), the session options are 100% improved (1+1=2, bl-openbox or close to default Debian openbox *close not cloze, English you suck. If you choose live session, you shuld be automaticley logged in. If not, something is wrong.
If you have choosed to log out and want to log in again, use:

username: user
passsword: live

^Thank you for advice, No success though, the same login error persists. Even after a reinstallment of the iso file, now twice.
The usb stick should be healthy.
Previously no problems of same kind with any of bl versions or other debian distros.

You are not supposed to install the iso to the usb-key (it is possible to do), you are suposed to write the iso to the key.
You are suposed to write it with "cp" or "dd". Have done so? The exact command?

The usb stick should be healthy.

You can boot to the installer and abort before writing changes to your hd?
When you have booted to the live session, can you change to tty 1/2/3... and login to the CLI?
(Press Ctrl+Alt+1..)
When you try to login graphical what erorr du you get??

Have you tried to write Helium iso and boot Helium live session?
What does command

 # lsblk -f

return for info about your key?

No one else has reported your problem. It does not seems to be an lithium bug...

@rbh Success, not a login problem anymore. Etcher helped to write the iso - as well as cp - on a memory stick. Dd is not familiar to me, man 'advice' not very helpful..

I now answer via Firefox and the lithium iso installed on a 32G flash stick, as the best option for me.

Many thanks, much to think about in your latest answer for a linux nonexpert. At lot to learn about cli(?)or command line practises in linux os.

Excellent job with the development, guys!

I've tested the experimental ISO in VirtualBox, and it looks and runs great.

I have a question though: When Lithium is officially released, will we be able to simply update our sources.list/sources.list.d and do upgrade/dist-upgrade? I'm guessing that's how it works, because that's how all other Debian distros are upgraded. I just want to make sure=)
