Hi Dobbie,
I have downloaded the ISO and would like to give it a try. Before I install, I have one question:
I will be installing on a clean external HDD (1TB WD Elements, UEFI- GPT partition table formatted). Is there any specific installation guide I can refer to? Does the minimo ISO support UEFI-GPT installation?

Hi Eon,
There is no install guide, Calamares is simple enough to not need one. You can specify your partition and format in Calamares.

Moved up the ladder to 40th place at Distrowatch.
Currently at 27th for the month (BL is at 123). Amazing for an Openbox-based desktop. Your installer must be first rate.
No, he can't sleep on the floor. What do you think I'm yelling for?!!!

Maybe they like more than just our installer LOL
In all seriousness though, the reception to AL has blown us all away. Its bloody great to see.

Hi Dobbie,
So I am trying to install AL with Calamares as you suggested, and while I am trying to install it on my external HDD (/dev/sdb) and I have made the required partitions, but why it tries to write EFI partition to (/dev/sda) lol?
It should write EFI partition to my external HDD right?
Edit: /dev/sda is where my Windows 10 is installed. So I thought before I install, I'd better ask the guru here, because I would not want to risk borking my Windows 10 setup. Peace.

Temporarily pull /sda out of the hardware (physically disconnect), install to the external, you're sure then nothing can be written to it.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed...
If there's an obscure or silly way to break it, but you don't know what.. Just ask me

It's a brand new laptop lol. I will not going to disassemble it, pull out my internal HDD and then reassemble it and then proceed with archlabs install.

I'm pretty sure that the EFI system partition on /dev/sda should be shared because that's what the Arch installation guide recommends.
However, I have never tried Calamares and I would always mount /boot to the EFI system partition when installing Arch (this is also the recommendation in the official guide) rather than /boot/efi

That may cause either Windows or Debian to fail to boot, depending on how the UEFI firmware decides to handle multiple EFI system partitions.
If the OP @Eon is lucky and has a decent UEFI implementation (highly unlikely in my experience) then your advice might work but one of the main benefits of UEFI is the ease of multi-booting (although Microsoft have tried their best to ruin this with their idiotic, non-standard "bootmgfw.efi" bootloader) and sharing a single EFI system partition and swapping between many operating systems is actually rather simple compared to non-UEFI machines.
EDIT: Eon is not the OP...

@Eon, or try the ABIF installer instead. It neeeds a little bit more thinking, but
sudo /abif-master/abif

the ABIF installer
The "Architect" installer was last updated in April 2016 so I'm not sure if that is a good idea, Arch has changed a lot since then.
Callamares is actively developed and used by Manjaro and Antergos.

^Oh did not know that. But I have used it a couple of times earlier this year when installing ArchLabs, and it worked as it should. Of course, one never knows.
