Re: Coming Soon: RC2 ISOs

It could still possibly be several hours. We are on opposite sides of the globe so our work and sleep schedules are clashing. I'm home for the next 17 hours though, so it's happening sooner or later.

Re: Coming Soon: RC2 ISOs

BTW, damo is having issues with contrib and non-free not getting set up properly when installing in a virtual machine. The bug doesn't seem to happen when installing to disk, so it's a non-issue for us, but keep an eye out for that.

@hhh: It will be ready... when it is ready!

Waiting, the suspense! Makes it all more worthwhile and interesting.

Whatever changes, or additions with RC2, very proud of the BL Team's progress forward and toward a final release.

Cheers

Re: Coming Soon: RC2 ISOs

Thanks! I'll list some changes here, it will help me organize the release announcement. They're mostly minor.

We've removed flashplugin-nonfree from the Live ISO, but bl-welcome offers to install it for you.
More gstreamer plugins were added for better multimedia support.
feh has been added.
usb-modeswitch and modemmanager have been added.
dmz-cursor-theme, obmenu, lame, and aptitude have been added.
openssh-client has been added.
yad has been backported and replaces zenity, all bl-* scripts now depend on it (better dialog windows).

Our custom Debian Installer has been streamlined. Your network mirror and sources.list are automatically set up, and the system clock automatically gets set to UTC. This means that once you're past the partitioning stage, everything is automatic until you install GRUB (plus we won't have complaints about no sources being present because the user chose not to use a network mirror).

Re: Coming Soon: RC2 ISOs

feh is a command line image viewer and background setter. I am working on a gui component for the background setting using yad. I am roughly 90% done with it. I need to get off my duff and get it finished.
