I have downloaded larger ISO's.

Yes, even the standard Ubuntu install iso is over 5 GB now. The times have passed when you could be reasonably certain that a distro's ISO would fit on a standard DVD. Some of the RedHat clone ISOs are 9 GB or even 10 GB.

Yes, even the standard Ubuntu install iso is over 5 GB now.

Personally, i haven't used Ubuntu in decades, but i think whoever going to try from scratch, Ubuntu like many other distros offers bare-minimum possible where we can start.

openSUSE it have JeOS equivalent.

Mini-ISO is my favorite way to install use an OS.

I'm currently posting from ExTix Deepin 26.5, which I downloaded a while ago but wasn't able to burn off to a USB drive (which I can now, with the aid of Balena).

If you like AI agents there's a good one built into Deepin in the form of UOS, but if you don't need one (and I don't), it's difficult to turn it off.

On the plus side, ExTix Deepin runs very well from RAM (which is unusual for a dIstro with an ISO larger than 5 GB), and Deepin's file manager is very good; it loads instantly and offers you the option of opening a folder with either read and write permissions to any of the writable files (e.g. text files) it contains or just keeping them as read only, which is useful.

It looks to me as though a lot of thought has been put into Deepin, it's just a shame that you have to deal with the AI agent whether or not you want to (why don't they provide an option to turn it on or off when you load it up?).

I ran away early from there as i felt i had to leave for #! which would mean better experience. As #! ended one day, other doors opened.
