do you know which desktop @cog chose with the new ‘gila-ISO’ from 2025-08-14 ?
https://hatcherylinux.org/download/Should be awesome window manager. The vertical bars are awesome widgets.
Thanks for your assessment.

Thanks for your work!
Would you take on Hyprland again? Awesome isn't really my thing.

I'll stick my 2 cents in to say that I wouldn't do it on Debian. The sid package is v.41 and the git is v.50, and that's not looking at what supporting packages are available on sid.
To get current Hyprland on Debian you have to build a half dozen packages, at least, from source. And then you could only release that as a static build for an ISO, it would be up to the user to rebuild everything (hopefully all the *-dev packages needed in the first place would be included on the ISO). And those new versions keep coming, along with new versions of the supporting stuff.
Anyway, a monumental pain in the keister, a hot mess of rapid development. Do it on Arch.
No, he can't sleep on the floor. What do you think I'm yelling for?!!!

Have I mentioned how awesome (no pun intended) a desktop environment Wayfire/wf-shell with mako-notifier on Debian trixie is? Totally awesome.

@hhh
^Thanks for your two cents.
I'm still using @JaKooLit's version on hyprland. I'm very happy with how stable it runs.
I understand the endless work that would fall on @cog, for example. It's hardly possible to do it alone.
Nevertheless, you're confusing me, see:

Is that easier than labwc (hyprland anyway)? What is the basis for Wayfire?
You keep raving about it. labwc rarely occurs in your case.

Very true.

@unklar, I'll put together a tutorial for a Wayfire setup on Debian trixie. Yes, I like it a lot more than labwc at the moment, I'm sorry to say. It's Compiz with an actual wl-roots shell under it. I think it's fun and brilliant.

@Colonel Panic - you had your most recent Manjaro post in the wayfire tutorial. I deleted it. Can you repost it here.
Thanks.

Sorry about the mistake. No I can't I'm afraid, I have no record of it.
It wasn't all that important, just an observation about the distro mostly being fine apart from what seems to be a bug with the boot menu (which freezes for no obvious reason).
