Not many 32-bit distros left now but I've managed to find another one; extrox, which is based on 32 bit MX and combines XFce with compiz for special effects.

It also has Orange Juice, which its developer describes as an an Authentic Audio Enhancer.

I've just installed it and it all seems to be working well. A couple of links;

Second time lucky with installing BesgnuLinux (a Turkish distro based on Debian Trixie and using JWM as its window manager), because the first time round it failed to create a partition to install into so I had to go into a distro I already had on my hard drive (Neptune 8.2), and create the partition from there.

Once it's up and running though, it's a smart-looking distro with a wide choice of mostly lightweight software (Sylpheed, for example, instead of Claws or Thunderbird) and a nice set of mostly Gnome-derived games.

There is also a theme-coloring utility which enables you to set whichever colours you want to have for the various icons, highlights and backgrounds (although the standard theme is a perfectly acceptable shade of pine green).

If I was being Dedoimedo-level critical, I'd probably say that the menu fonts are a bit "reedy" and could do with being stronger for ease of use, particularly when my eyes are getting tired.

I'll stick my 2 cents in to say that I wouldn't do it on Debian. The sid package is v.41 and the git is v.50, and that's not looking at what supporting packages are available on sid.

To get current Hyprland on Debian you have to build a half dozen packages, at least, from source. And then you could only release that as a static build for an ISO, it would be up to the user to rebuild everything (hopefully all the *-dev packages needed in the first place would be included on the ISO). And those new versions keep coming, along with new versions of the supporting stuff.

Anyway, a monumental pain in the keister, a hot mess of rapid development. Do it on Arch.

I'm still using @JaKooLit's version on hyprland.  I'm very happy with how stable it runs.
I understand the endless work that would fall on @cog, for example. It's hardly possible to do it alone.

Sorry about the mistake. No I can't I'm afraid, I have no record of it.

It wasn't all that important, just an observation about the distro mostly being fine apart from what seems to be a bug with the boot menu (which freezes for no obvious reason).

I'm running low on blank DVD-Rs at the moment but I have a couple of spare USB drives, so am experimenting with creating bootable live USBs of distros from the ISO instead (using the MX tool for that purpose).

Someone's created a Moksha version of MX, and I'm posting from it now. They've clearly put a lot of work into it and I think they've done a fine job; all the expected MX tools and utilities are there, along with the bright and attractive Moksha desktop manager. Wine is included too.

I have Slackware Current on my machine. I solved the problem by using the boot repair utility in AntiX (or MX, I forget which now) to install Grub in Slack, create a boot menu  and then have it probe my hard drive for the installed distros to add to the menu.

I'm posting from Manjaro now. It's working OK but I haven't updated yet and that's usually when the "fun" starts and things start breaking and going wrong.

Lilidog Linux for Trixie

Even though there is no website or forum any more, apparently Sleek Mason has continued to work on Lilidog. A couple of days ago he uploaded new Trixie based iso's for Lilidog and Beardog to Source Forge.  It looks as though they will continue to be X11 based and use tint2. They seem very polished.

One thing I enjoyed was the ability to try the xlibre X11 server since I am still not convinced that wayland is ready.  To install it I did:

sudo apt install extrepo
sudo extrepo enable xlibre
sudo apt update
sudo apt install xlibre
