I am slightly worried about BL installing anything from backports automatically.

As advised in Debian Backports ›› Instructions ...

Backports cannot be tested as extensively as Debian stable, and backports are provided on an as-is basis, with risk of incompatibilities with other components in Debian stable. Use with care!
It is therefore recommended to select single backported packages that fit your needs, and not use all available backports.

I suggest that, while the backports repo can be included in the default BL sources.list, it should be up to each user to manually install any backported package they actually require with apt-get -t jessie-backports install "package".

My comment was about the Debian 8.2 netinstall ISO image.

The BunsenLabs-specific set up (ie, the part the BL developers have direct control over) only adds backports as a user-activated option.

I think ffmpeg is a special case anyway because of the licensing wrangles.

Available in bunsen-welcome 8.6-1 which should be arriving on your desktop soonish.

If backports are added, the user is advised:

You can add or upgrade packages with the command:
sudo apt-get install -t jessie-backports <packagename>

but nothing is installed automatically.

There have been a few issues with the lock screen (light-locker). This is tough to troubleshoot because we also offer an xfce4-power-manager backport that laptop users get prompted to install during bl-welcome. Again, we'll probably stick with what we have and troubleshoot as needed, but suggestions are encouraged.

What kind of sound problems ? So when RC2 will show up there will be need to reinstall the whole system ?

Sound issues seem to vary a lot from person to person - depending perhaps on hardware? Personally, I've never had any problems with Pulse Audio. That could be because I don't try to do anything particularly difficult with it...

Even when RC2 comes out there will be no need to reinstall your system if you just keep the bunsen packages up to date.

^^Not forgetting the 'sudo apt-get update' first.

Usually dist-upgrade is unnecessary, but after a major release jump some BunsenLabs packages will have new dependencies which wouldn't get installed without it.
