Re: Show us your conky

Let me say this again:
It's over a year old, may or may not work.  Things change, but it is all right there.
At the rime manual posted that ... the conky worked, and he posted everything needed.

If it is old, and does not work, find another that does.

Re: Show us your conky

EDIT, don't worry fellas.  After a bit of google searching I don't think I can have quite what I want.

Dudes I am needing some Conky help.  I have an image in my conky but it is not showing as a solid image, it has transparency just like the actual conky itself.  How do I make the image avoid the transparency.

This is what I have:

conky.config = {
-- from where does conky start
alignment = "top_right",

-- distance from screen edge
gap_x = -3840,
gap_y = 0,

-- size settings for conky window
maximum_width = 500,
minimum_width = 500,
max_text_width = 0,

-- set conky behavior on screen (adjustable in the color section)
	-- allows setting own WM_Class. conky is the default
own_window_class = "conky-semi",
	-- don"t share the desktop, makes conky its own animal
own_window = true,
	-- on some systems does give full transparency, but cannot be adjusted as this setup allows
own_window_transparent = false,
	-- necessary to get adjustable transparency
own_window_argb_visual = true,
own_window_argb_value = 0,
       -- normal, desktop, dock, panel, override
own_window_type = "override",
	--set values for conky behavior
own_window_hints = "undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager",

-- set border/shading behavior
default_outline_color = "000000",
default_shade_color = "000000",
draw_borders = false,
border_width = 1,
stippled_borders = 0,
draw_graph_borders = false,
draw_outline = false,
draw_shades = false,
border_inner_margin = 10,
uppercase = true,
-- set special conditions for conky
out_to_x = true,
background = true,
out_to_console = false,
out_to_stderr = false,
text_buffer_size = 512,
total_run_times = 0,
double_buffer = true,
update_interval = 2,
cpu_avg_samples = 2,
net_avg_samples = 2,
no_buffers = true,
short_units = true,
imlib_cache_size = 256,
show_graph_scale = false,
show_graph_range = false,

-- Text options

use_xft = true,
xftalpha = 0.8,

color5 = 'D6A0A0',
color6 = '86A8FF',
color7 = 'F6C3FF',
color8 = 'BBBBBB',
color9 = '3C3C3C',
-- END COLORS
own_window_colour = "000000",

-- color0 = Time, Local, Public, Top Processes Labels, Date

--  color3 = Calendar, 1st Labels, Weather Days
--  color4 = Graph Bars

--  color6 = Low Temperatures, Top Processes 2-9

--  color8 = Weather Icons
--  color9 = Separator Bars, Graph Borders

lua_load = "/home/dobbie/.config/conky/draw_bg.lua",
lua_draw_hook_pre = "draw_bg"
}

By the way I am using i3 and a lua config for the panel background.

Re: Show us your conky

Dobbi, draw_bg.lua does not work in the syntax of 1.10.  cry

and for the transparency of the image try it like this (kill the conky beforehand or log off and on):

own_window_argb_value = 250,

Whereby, argb-visuals doesn't play well with images, especially with black portions.

Thanks for the reply.  Yeah I can't get it to look just right so I'm not going to worry.

Lua is loading for me with draw_lua.bg? It is responding to any changes I make in the lua config too.

Re: Show us your conky

conky -v
conky 1.11.3_pre compiled Mi 27. Mär 20:43:00 CET 2019 for Linux 5.0.3-arch1-1-ARCH x86_64

Cependant, pas dans le fichier lua (puisque j'ai cherché en vain les paramètres) mais dans le conkyrc lui-même.

....
color6                 = 'ffffff',--'3F506B', --graph 'DDDDDD'

lua_load = '~/TEST/loutch/draw_bg.lua',
lua_draw_hook_pre = 'draw_bg 10 0 0 0 0 0x000000 0.55',

};

conky.text = [[

${goto 180}|${color3} Home: ${color EDFF00}${fs_used_perc /home}% (${fs_used /home} / ${fs_free /home}) \
${goto 380}|${color4} Data: ${fs_used_perc /DATEN}% \
...

et, j'ai suivi le conseil de @wlourf d'avoir le script lua avec dans le répertoire de conkyrc !

loutch_argb.th.png

@loutch, Dobbie didn't want the transparency of his picture in Conky.

But you are a devil!  devil
Sector11 is my witness, we tested it in draw_bg.lua many times without success.
Here in archlinux with Conky version 1.11.3 it works.

But not in the lua file (because I searched in vain for the parameters), but in the conkyrc itself.

and, i followed the advice of @wlourf to have the lua script with in the directory of conkyrc!

Re: Show us your conky

@MaDscntist,

you should realize, the old scripts conkyWeather/conkyForecast are "set".
27.May 2012

My research has shown that they are apparently only available as rpm-package in Fedora.

Re: Show us your conky

I had something odd happen, last night.
My conky-sandwich was reloading and updating to the 17th day.
Several of my conky clocks went all wonky
vGKEi3K.jpg

actual time was 12:27am

That was wierd, but also, my sandwich didn't load, so.
Idk if they could be related, but, found an error in food.sh
for conky-sandwich

goto the 17th day and change

wkhtmltopdf
to
wkhtmltoimage

I thought I triple checked all that stuff...ggrrrrrr

I am curious if that's a possible side affect on clocks if cocky breaks somehow

Thankyou,
that is all tongue

Except the one on the top right.  It still says:

Well, it certainly looks like something went SNAP-CRACKLE-POP on your system.

How long did the clocks stay on drugs before coming back to sanity?

Re: Show us your conky

Yeah the conky on the right I'm playing with stayed with the system time in my tray which was wierd.

After I fixed the script error, I opened up the conky and saved it so it would restart, but it stayed blank.

Ultimately I had to just killall and restart them.

It was just odd to see conky wonky<--lol like that.

Re: Show us your conky

I do have a question though.
Out of all the tries I've done so far, I can not get an entire webpage contents to download to a file.

I don't know why it won't, but what would be the best way to download this to a file, and if possible, strip out alot of the html?
https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.p … 8999999995

Edit: Best I can figure, it's encoded somehow, only pulls part of the site....The end result I'm trying for is a somewhat rss looking file I can pull from.
I've tried both

${execi 3600 curl -s https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=40.88289000000003&lon=-85.49418999999995 > /home/major/.conky/My_conky/edweather/extended.xml}
${execi 3600 wget -q --output-document="/home/major/.conky/My_conky/edweather/extended.xml" https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=40.88289000000003&lon=-85.49418999999995}

Even through console, both results are...well, un-useable lol

OH, btw, that png error did show up, if I used the background images with the tubes...Theres something there I need to learn to save a png the right way, I THINK, is was I'm reading....

Re: Show us your conky

^ Which values are you trying to extract? And from which <tags>?

Depending on the complexity it can often be done with just grep and awk; otherwise there are various xml/html bash utilities, or a python parser.

Re: Show us your conky

The way the page is generated was stopping it from downloading.
I got around it by going to shorturl.com and converted the link.

Now I can work on deciphering the mess it downloaded lol
