Hello,
where can i find most up-to-date documentation for openbox, esp. the theme file syntax?
it seems that what little documentation comes with openbox install, is old, if not outdated.
the themes provided are even older.
the wiki has a very nice page for theming, but it's been last modified in 2013. is it still status quo, and if not, what is?
there is a few new options since the syntax changed, esp. osd.*, and i'd also like to understand options like "flat raised solid gradient vertical parentrelative" better...

Have you been through all the links in Menu -> Help -> Openbox? (The Arch wiki page was updated 1st November)
EDIT: Strike that, the Arch wiki links to openbox.org

i had a look at all the links in bunsenlab's Help => Openbox menu.
sooner or later, they all link back to openbox wiki.
the page for theming is good and thorough, i guess it will do for now - but i really want to make sure it's up-to-date.
i have also posted to the openbox user list, see what they say.

But all those options are explained in the wiki

yes of course. those were just examples.
openbox mailing list hasn't replied yet, so for now i'll just assume that openbox wiki has the current documentation on theming:
http://openbox.org/wiki/Help:Themes
thanks for taking an interested.

thanks for taking an interest.
Because I'm working through it all as well! What I've been doing is taking a basic themerc and changing options to see what they actually do.

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

Very nice theme Ohnonot, in my collection.
I think a good OB theme is simple and color scheme match nicely with everything else.
Just taking existing ones apart and messing with them is best way to learn.
I've always liked crunchbang's and nightmare's the most
Also, making your own buttons puts a nice finishing/ownage touch. .
