Themes and Icons

This thread is for icons and Openbox, GTK and Notification themes, share your own or link to someone's!

Besides the default themes in Hydrogen, there is also this dark blue-green theme I did, my version of Vertex-icons is there too...
https://github.com/BunsenLabs/dark-teal-theme

I've also released this other theme, Oblivion...

Re: Themes and Icons

Here is the one I modified up for wtfbox. I am still using it on Bunsenlabs. Hosted on my github. I should really probably revisit it's name.

i think that ACYL still qualifies.
if you're missing something, you might want to dig through the comments for added symlinks/icons.

looking thru the comments its seems all the icons in "scalable" folder are already symlinked to the icons in 'real_icons" folder. mirage, vlc, pidgin, terminal are some of the apps i use that the acyl icons arent being used. ive been googling for hours and still have no solution

yes, that is how the developer decided to lay out his icon theme.
but it needn't concern you until you run into problems (=missing icons).

mirage, vlc, pidgin, terminal are some of the apps i use that the acyl icons arent being used.

all those have icons in acyl:

$ cd ~/.icons/ACYL_Icon_Theme_0.9.4
$ find -name '*vlc*'
./scalable/real_icons/apps/vlc.svg
./scalable/apps/vlc.svg
$  find -name '*mirage*'
./scalable/real_icons/apps/mirage.svg
./scalable/apps/mirage.svg
$ find -name '*pidgin*'
./scalable/specific_applications/pidgin
./scalable/apps/pidgin.svg
./scalable/apps/pidgin-menu.svg

also the colorization/customization script works, at least if debian is still using python2 by default (if not, let us know, the fix is trivial).

so what exactly is the problem?

i think what we're looking at is a problem with tint not overriding application default icons.
it is a thing that has been discussed ad nauseum on crunchbang forums, and this is my solution (see <ot> section).

@ohnonot
thank you very much for that i was able to get my ACYL icons to work even set up fbpanel in a way that im using the menu plug-in so that i have a "start" menu so to speak and have it sitting nicely next to my tint2 panel.. basically the only plugins im using in fbpanel are the menu and icons plugins.. again thank you for suggesting fbpanel

Re: Themes and Icons

I personally love the ARC Gtk theme I use Dark myself, but the others ain't bad by any standard. ARC provides some additional doodads, but they do not have an openbox theme. Thankfully, someone else has made one here.  There's a matching iceweasel/firefox theme too. And even a debian repo! I've not ever tweaked a GTK theme myself, but I intend to look into the process over the next few days and see if I can't monochomize it. Of course if this tab of lxappearance worked... life would be that much easier for me smile

Re: Themes and Icons

for gtk i'm using Bunsen-Blackish (already comes preloaded with BL) for the openbox theme Lotion by p0ngbr (tweaked the menu bg color to black and the highlighted item bg to grey) for mouse cursor Comix Cursors by jlue icons ACYL (link a few posts up) and a rather simple conky with lua rings. all in all the whole theme is pretty much monochrome with the exception of a few icons (root terminal, root thunar, etc) i'll gladly share my configs with anybody just ask smile

Guys, this isn't the screenshot thread. This thread serves to share your own (modified) GTK themes and icon themes.

Re: Themes and Icons

I would be nice to see the GTK widgets in screenshots; they make difference in judging both aesthetics and usability. There used to be python scripts for showing all the sliders, scrollbars, radio, check and button widgets in a window. Is there one for GTK3 as well?

i have to agree.
though i'm sure you deliver good quality.
and since your screenshot has perfectly matching colors in the terminal, could you also share the terminal colors?

The widgets are the same as in all the Bunsen themes as they're all based on Greybird. You can get an idea from the "progress" bar in the volume notification in that last screenshot. I'll post TWF scrots in the future.

The term colors are automatically inherited as I use gnome-terminal (--no-install-recommends) with "Use colors from system theme" checked. You can manually set them using the colors found in any of the theme files (for example, Deco>gtk-3.0>gtk.css>fg_color, bg_color, selected_bg_color).

Re: Themes and Icons

Hey, hhh. I'm having problems with the Openbox Deco theme. It doesn't show in obconf or lxappearance. The GTK part works fine, it's the OB theme only. All other themes onboard work (including Dark-Teal or Oblivion). Does it need something special I'm missing? Works for everyone else?

Main icon theme is Paper but dirty hacked my launcher icons.
I tossed them and my other configs in as well for those who'd like.

Sorted it out. For some reason the openbox-3 directory had wrong permissions. I swear i didn't changed them, though it doesn't mean I didn't. LOL

Sorry for the annoyance, hhh.

I didn't check permissions before I uploaded that theme, it's quite possible they were set badly on my end. Thanks for troubleshooting!
