Re: Donations

Hi ! I cannot use Paypal but want to contribute - would it be possible for you to setup Liberapay (https://liberapay.com/) account ? It supports all currencies basically, they use Stripe for processing

Re: Donations

Hi cyplo! Thanks for joining the BunsenLabs forums, welcome. smile

The BL Team has had requests for a different donation channel before, but we couldn't find a viable option that fit our needs. However, this Liberapay looks like a candidate that we'll look into further.

To be clear, when you say you "cannot use PayPal", how do you mean it? Your country/currency isn't supported or is it for a personal reason, and if so why (philosophical disagreement, security concerns, etc...)?

Re: Donations

OK, already a big strike against is that Liberapay does not allow one-time donations from what I can see. We have very few recurring donors (to date: 1). big_smile

Hi !
It is actually most of the above big_smile
So I had a lot of trouble using PayPal in the past, as I started my account being in one country but then moved to another one - they do not handle this gracefully.
For the moral reasons - they froze funds for a lot of my online friends without any ability to appeal anywhere, so that's that as well.

Thanks for looking into this smile

Re: Donations

Looking at the list - I hada very good experience with Stripe in the past, both as a user and also as a developer/integrator - the other ones I do not have this much experience with so not sure tbh. I would probably like to avoid Google Pay, to not give more money to Google than necessary wink

hope this helps and thanks smile

Re: Donations

@exe, thanks for supporting BunsenLabs!

Donations are very much appreciated, they pay our web-hosting costs. Most of our donations are small, one-time donations of USD $10 or under. Those are our bread and butter, they add up.

Our funds are used for web expenses only, all development, website, forum and forum moderation time is volunteer (many thanks to @twoion, his forum and website administration takes considerable time and effort, and it has been first-rate and invaluable). Our funding status can be viewed here...
