Re: December 2017 Screenshot Thread

For a 64bit architecture that is a good achievement Steve.
It's rare thing nowdays because many do not look interesting or do not know the importance of booting OS with less RAM usage (even though free RAM is a wasted RAM), except some who like to play a little more the game of tweaks smile

Re: December 2017 Screenshot Thread

@steve - nice. Did Void musl have all the packages you needed?

And, can you hook me up with that wall because I'm too lazy to do a reverse image search  monkey

back on topic -

rtorrent is interesting, but may be too much to deal with right now -

@ Nili, very true.

@ PackRat, so far it has everything needed to create a workable openbox desktop, its still a wip at the moment, adding more today. That background i found at Unsplash.com here  https://unsplash.com/photos/xL66l--msXU

Nice! I did a frugal install on a partition and boot with grub. This pup flies.

Re: December 2017 Screenshot Thread

@lowrider
Nice one! cool

Indeed, I have sampled Puppy (and pupplets) over the years and this one is the best yet in my humble opinion.
Comprehensive software selection including Firefox Quantum available via Quickpet.
The only issues I experienced were;

1.nvidia drivers- I could not get these to install correctly via Quickpet-Getnividia was the solution for me;
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=110611

2.There is a 'savefolder' option upon install with this pup...but I experienced an indefinite hang at reboot/shutdown......
I reinstalled using 'savefile' option and this problem was solved. Maybe I was missing something...but I will stay tuned on this topic.

Great distro added to my collection!  cool
I love the retro style icons in rox-filer set to huge! big_smile

^ I'm pretty sure that is a picture of cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova; first woman into space and to orbit earth - about 50 orbits. From an old Soviet space agency promotional photo - dove photoshopped in later?.

Thank you for the wallpaper.

@PackRat

thanks for the information. Valentina is still a household name for me
Her callsign was: Tschaika - seagull
That's why the picture isn't quite correct.   wink

Re: December 2017 Screenshot Thread

@Dobbie, that really is sublime, are you using your $HOME folder as a git directory? V. nice smile

My Arch [testing] box running dwm with rxvt-hoascode (plus a brand new build version of AT&T's original KornShell), thunar and the Nightly version of FF[1]:

2017-12-10-121224_1920x1080_scrot.th.png

FF v59 will be the next ESR release but it remains to be seen if it will make it into Debian stretch thanks to the need for the cargo package manager.

I personally think that Debian is more likely to make a version of cargo available in stretch than to let Firefox go stale. But I may be wrong hmm

[1] I'm trying to pin down an apparent memory leak in Firefox, the ps_mem output seems promising with v59, for now at least.
