December 2017 Screenshot Thread

Please use thumbnails!

Do not embed images larger than approx 250x250px (62,500px) into posts, please use thumbnails linking to a hosted image instead.

We recommend https://scrot.moe for image uploads. Click "Embed codes", copy/paste the "Thumbnail image (linked) BBCode" at the bottom of the page, done.

To open the linked scrot fullscreen in your browser, scroll down to the Download icon on the right (next to Like and Share), right-click it and hit T on your keyboard to open the screenshot in a new browser tab, then switch to that tab. Done.

Created and maintained by our very own mrneilypops for BunsenLabs.  Thank you very much mrneilypops!

Re: December 2017 Screenshot Thread

Mmmm... Mustang  cool

New on my desktop:

Screenshot-from-2017-12-01-19-46-14.th.png

CatClock!

I'm making an AUR package for it  big_smile

I can't believe it's not already in there, frankly  hmm

EDIT: working PKGBUILD here:

https://gist.githubusercontent.com/Head … 3/PKGBUILD

Copy that file into it's own folder and run `makepkg -sri` to build and install the package.

I'll submit it to the AUR later.

Screenshot of Linux Mint running on a Lenovo X61. I picked up two of these from Laptop Mountain for my kids for Christmas. Chances are real good that I will install Bunsenlabs on them soon.

Re: December 2017 Screenshot Thread

Got bored of the bloat so it's out with GNOME and (back) in with dwm:

2017-12-05-165140_1920x1080_scrot.th.png

The window manager and status readout (along with a slightly modified version of dmenu to fit the panel) are available as binary packages for Arch-based systems.

To install them, first edit /etc/pacman.conf and add my repositories to the end of the file (the position is important and they must come after the main repositories):

[home_Head_on_a_Stick_Arch_Arch_Extra]
SigLevel = Never
Server = https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/Head_on_a_Stick:/Arch/Arch_Extra/$arch

Then update the system and install the packages:

# pacman -Syu dwm hmenu hoastatus

Simple ~/.xinitrc to start it all:

urxvtd -q -f -o # daemon needs to be running for terminals to open
volumeicon & # keyboard control & popups :)
sh ~/.fehbg # paper the wall
hoastatus & # panel status readout
exec dwm # bring the noise

<Ctrl>+<Shift>+<Return> to open a terminal, <Ctrl>+<Shift>+c to close windows and the <Menu> key brings up dmenu.

Yes, I always found Mr. Kauler's reasoning to be very sound in that respect:

http://barryk.org/puppylinux/technical/root.htm

He makes the exact same point as XKCD, in fact:
