Re: ArchLabs Linux

Thank you, but I wouldn't be so arrogant to think that  LOL!  ArchLabs are forever in the debt of the Bunsen boys for being so kind to allow us in the beginning to use their configs and copy the look.  It really meant a lot.

On that note, ArchLabs 2017.10 is available for those of you interested.  We really refined on the previous release.  This one is even tidier and smoother.

Check it out

Re: ArchLabs Linux

^I was joking around ... I'm sure BL devs are honored the BL became a model to another successful distro.

Actually, I was going to install it permanently on my Asus EEE pc, but the decision about ditching 32bit arch made it not worth (in the long run).

Re: ArchLabs Linux

^ I knew that, hence me adding the "LOL"  smile

We consider ourselves Bl's little brother.  My wish was for BL to be based on Arch as Debian is too outdated for my tastes (in comparision to Arch) but we knew that wouldn't happen so hence ArchLabs!

Re: ArchLabs Linux

Question, does switching to LTS kernel decrease number of updates somehow or did I read that wrong? Or is there a more general (not kernel only) LTS model?

Re: ArchLabs Linux

I'm not sure if you use Arch but from what I understand the updates to the kernel are fewer when using the LTS rather than always updating the latest kernel.

Re: ArchLabs Linux

^ Arch's LTS kernel tracks the upstream kernel.org LTS branch.

The LTS kernel is the only sane choice for Arch (IMO), the vanilla version just breaks too often sad

Re: ArchLabs Linux

What HOAS said.

Saying that though, I have had very little issue with the latest kernels.  So far.

Re: ArchLabs Linux

I'd use something in between Debian stable & Arch (in number of updates), perhaps I'll try sid.

Re: ArchLabs Linux

@Dobbio03
I tried Minimo yesterday.  Very impressed with the speed. Couple of observations.

On install I couldn't see a way to specify the /home in a separate partition, may be I missed it.
Liked the obmenu.
Would have preferred printer support already there as it is in BL.
Similarly the inability to browse network fileshare is proving irksome to a non-expert. I have managed to connect with a cifs statement in fstab but only as root!

Congratulations on some great work.

Awesome, have ArchLabs 201710 installed and must say a very fast, lean, and mean distro!

Look forward to the new release!

cheers
