What does "streatch_build" mean? Is this not a "Jessie" base?

The installer is based on the stretch RC2 but it lays down a jessie-based system.

^Right, the build process takes place on a Stretch system, but the iso it builds is Jessie (including the installer, in fact).
This was done so we could use the more recent version of live-build in Stretch, which supports building EFI-bootable isos.

@johnraff would you recommend this iso for a daily driver OS ?

Of course not, this topic is called RFT experimental. That said, if you know what you are doing, etc, etc...

Yes, i know what is says in the title. I tried it in VB and appeared pretty stable. So i asked for an opinion.

Strictly speaking, it is the installer that is the experimental application here — once the system is laid down on the target device and is independently bootable then it should be identical to a system created by the jessie installer, barring the added UEFI support.
However, there is a (small) chance that the stretch RC2 installer may introduce misconfigurations that could adversely affect reliability so this method should not be used in any mission-critical applications.
Thanks HoS,
Nice explanation.

Sorry icrunchbanger, I have actually deleted that post because I think I have misunderstood the situation :8
The installer used is in fact the jessie version so my comments are not correct.
I think we should wait for johnraff to clarify things.

Actually, the most experimental part of the iso is the EFI support, because we've never used it before and have no history of bug reports to refer to. The system it installs should be the same as a standard BL system with the latest package upgrades installed. The only possible trouble would be related to booting.
That said, there's no particular reason to re-install with this iso if you already have a working BL system. If you have a machine which requires EFI to boot, then there's a good (not 100%) chance it will work OK. The other main difference from the iso currently on offer is that it installs newer packages, so post-install apt-get upgrades will have less to do.

Set BIOS to UEFI boot, booted to usb - everything is fine in live session, and after full (graphical) install (Except for the usual broadwell/skylake/wireless issues, and a loud beep at the start )

The beep on boot is a bug in live-build.
JohnRaff, you'll have to remove the ^G from the menu.cfg file and rebuild to get rid of the beep. I think that file is in /usr/share/live/build/bootloaders/syslinux
No, he can't sleep on the floor. What do you think I'm yelling for?!!!

Thanks @johnraff
I have working BL but i just love clean install and i do have EFI support
Thanks for the hard work.

It's not a bug it's a feature.
There's a "bell" character on that line in menu.cfg which is supposed to beep on bootup! Anyway, I've already edited it out of config/bootloaders/isolinux/menu.cfg which, I think, stopped the beep (EDIT) when booting from the BIOS with isolinux.
But now, I guess, since we're booting via EFI not isolinux then I don't think menu.cfg is being used, so all bets are off and we'll have to search around for another BEL in another file.

Right, I just call it a bug because it can be loud as hell on some machines.

Pretty loud on mine. Not as bad as the old #! login blast though!

It is highly embarrassing in, for example, a library, and be prepared for hearing damage if wearing headphones!
How is this a feature, again? I can't remember. I also can't remember if this happens with all of Debian's install images or just the Live ones.
Btw, is RFT short for request for testing?

I've only ever got it with this UEFI-enable image.

That's a relief anyway. I thought it had been weeded out of the previous isos.
As far as I can tell, menu.cfg is ignored by the EFI boot menu. At least the menu displayed - while it uses the BunsenLabs background image hhh made and looks quite good - is different from what's configured in isolinux/menu.cfg.
But, anyway, this is a beep when the installer boots, isn't it? We're not talking about a beep from the grub menu every time the system boots, are we? How often are you going to be doing BL installs in a library?
