The font: manofur or monofur?

I've had monofur for a long time and I cannot find a manofur font.

It was my default mono font in conky for a while until I found fira code and fira mono fonts

Monofur My mistake, I should have checked that post before it went out.

In retrospect, if you just want MX I think there are better ways of getting it (like one of the various respins). It's good for people who are really into audio though.

I haven't decided yet whether to keep it or replace it with something else.

Another bad experience to report unfortunately. I'm an admirer of the work the MX team have done over the years and particularly in putting together the MX toolkit, which I always make sure I've got somewhere on my hard drive.

However, when I was trying to install MX 25.2 Fluxbox from the live disk earlier today the system froze completely and I had to reboot it, and that was with just 4 windows open in Firefox along with GParted and the MX installer.

I know I keep banging on about the fact that I've got an old computer but that shouldn't be happening in 8 GB of RAM.

I get on very well with MX 23 (its predecesssor, based on Bookworm), and I think I'll be sticking with that for the time being. I'm posting this from MX 23 XFce wth Fluxbox added on, and it still works well.

That's quite a bit of memory use right there; and gparted may have had the disk locked. Also, always best to close all applications before installing. The installer will have sole access to system resources. Try the install with only the installer running.

And it's also good that MX 23 still runs well, because being based on Bookworm that one allows me to run 32-bit programs whereas MX-25, based on Trixie, doesn't. I know I'll eventually have to move on from 23 but I'm in no hurry to do so at the moment.

For sure. I only have 4 gb of ram and it's still never an issue, it's the CPU (APU on my machine), I always disable the screensaver/power management and close everything before I do a snapshot or an install, both work the CPU pretty hard.

To disable screen blanking and power management on MX Linux, open the MX Tweak utility, navigate to the Display tab, and set the Power Management and Screensaver features to "Disabled" or "Never".
