Current idle with the monitor open, missed it by that much...

No, that's fine. I think 1.7 is my average idle on GNOME, and that's with evolution removed and gnome-online-accounts sent to the bin. I assume you're running the full desktop. krita is light, but it's still a graphics processing tool, aka heavy.

Yes, it's pretty much EndeavourOS default Plasma desktop so there are some services like firewalld running that aren't typical.

Back to my usual memory use -

You still have a Sid or Ubuntu setup so you'll get Gnome 50 soon?

Re: 2026 Screenshot Thread

^ No, but the partition is there to install it when it's out. Six months without internet a few years back put me on Debian stable for life. That first update after a gap is, potentially, a system killer.

I'm wondering when gnome and gnome-shell will be the same package. On Debian, you can still install gnome-shell and gnome-control-center and get a desktop, avoiding things that the gnome package installs like avahi-daemon,

https://packages.debian.org/sid/gnome

https://packages.debian.org/sid/gnome-shell

Cool, the 50 beta is out for gnome-control-center...

Re: 2026 Screenshot Thread

I installed the full GNOME desktop via the latest Debian testing weekly, there's a cute intro slideshow now.

B0v8Hc4s_t.png z8T55psX_t.png UQIQAj9n_t.png L2mbmJMc_t.png

Nine slides in all, adorable! gnome-system monitor is showing 2.7 GB of RAM usage with this tab of FF running, 1.7 at idle. Laptop fan is silent, being managed perfectly, nice.

Re: 2026 Screenshot Thread

Annoying that you have to reduce the display scaling down to 100 from the default 125%, but otherwise great. Some new wallpapers, I like this one...

QhcM0cql_t.png 04cPmPRk_t.png

Default "Dash to Panel" extension in the second scrot.

-edit- er, I didn't see it but now I can't unsee it. That's a penis.

A couple of adjustments...

Wall change and monitor check.

I'm a lot less familiar with Plasma, this will be fun.

It's always cool seeing old screenshots, especially of your own to see how your workflow etc has changed.

Stole that screenshot and cleaned it up a little - hope you don't mind...  wink
Doesn't really fit with my conky (yet), but it's workable.

Re: 2026 Screenshot Thread

Plasma on sid. It has many, many settings... I don't know. Faffing with the Panel Colorizer widget was a PITA and crashed the desktop twice, but I like how it came out. I do like the theme color-picker that sets the folder icon and accent colors, it's a pretty OS for sure.
