Re: Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant)

@ loutch - very nice -->> I love the conky on the right. cool in fact it's AWESOME!  LOVE that Barometer!

Mine (conkys) tend to be more TEXT based as I know almost zero about LUA.

In the process of touching up a few ... and a complete rewrite of one old Wunderground script.

^ Unless I'm mistaken, last quarter === waning crescent, unless you're diving moon phase more finely than quarter.

Re: Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant)

Sorry guys, my mistake, it is of course 'Waning Crescent'.
I just run the conky once and it used the info from the last time it was run, some days ago ('Last Quarter').
When I run it again, the script had the time to update the info files and showed the correct moon phase.

Re: Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant)

OOOOOOOOOOOHHHH, ok, now I understand you. It was a semantics matter... big_smile

If we're gonna be specific, the last quarter is when the moon is 50% illuminated, right between the waning gibbous and the waning crescent.
So now we're not in a quarter at all. Now we're at waning crescent.

Thanks Wikipedia...  cool

Yup, waning crescent with 17% visible and New moon in three days.

... only another 17 days to "The Howling!"   devil

Yup, and for us it lighted up on the right side, 50%-lit disc, for others it's on the wrong side.  smile

Re: Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant)

[showerthought]The moon, instead of being half lit on its right or left side depending on whether you're on the northern or southern hemisphere, should be half lit on its upper or lower side, so as not to confuse people about which hemisphere they're on...[/showerthought]

@ IP - I'll bite --> Spanish way? lol

@ Teo - Awesome idea, I could rotate the moon images to do that.
- or make them all "Full Moons" --> for Vampires and Werewolves.  smile

Yep.
1% to 99% lit == Cuarto creciente (growing quarter).
99% to 1% lit == Cuarto menguante (decreasing quarter)

And that's it. Then Luna Nueva (New Moon) and Luna Llena (Full Moon).
Less complication. Less work.

We're lazy, that way... tongue lol lol

Re: Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant)

Northern and Southern Hemisphere Moon Phase Calendar.
North_South_Moon.jpg

Available in the Archive: 5_Moon_Phase_Calendar-365.tar.gz

You will need to change ALL the paths in the various scripts from:
  /home/sector11/5_Moon_Phase_Calendar-365
  /home/<your_username>/5_Moon_Phase_Calendar-365

$HOME and or /home/$USER does not work, I think it is because of the because of the "mogrify" command to edit the images:

Northern Hemisphere
~/5_Moon_Phase_Calendar-365/N/5MPC-365_N.conky
~/5_Moon_Phase_Calendar-365/N/5-MPCalendar-365  <- Teo's modified script
~/5_Moon_Phase_Calendar-365/N/not01.sh
~/5_Moon_Phase_Calendar-365/N/t01.sh

Southern Hemisphere
~/5_Moon_Phase_Calendar-365/S/5MPC-365_S.conky
~/5_Moon_Phase_Calendar-365/S/5-MPCalendar-365_s  <- Teo's modified script
~/5_Moon_Phase_Calendar-365/S/not01.sh
~/5_Moon_Phase_Calendar-365/S/t01.sh

And the two Start/StopConky scripts
~/5_Moon_Phase_Calendar-365/ssc-North_Moon.sh
~/5_Moon_Phase_Calendar-365/ssc-South_Moon.sh

Have fun ....
