@HoaS,
I am very happy to see you here again! In a way I was banned too, no internet for 3.5 months because of 'deutsche Telekom'.
Welcome back unklar!

Some forums like to squash any talk about things that go against the protocols of their particular distro, haven't seen that here, it's pretty refreshing.
No it's true, we're good in that respect and I think you have to pick your battles anyway. I got into trouble on the old ConnochaetOS forum (about twelve years ago) because I was open about the fact that I used closed source software such as Opera and Softmaker Office, and that was a big "no-no" on there; they were very much a "free software" distro (they've long since closed down unfortunately).
I greatly respect the FSF and am glad it exists, but I have no great wish to join them; some of the offerings I've tried from them haven't been very stable to say the least.
With the current and fairly minor spat I've been having on the antiX boards over how I capitalise the name of their distro, it's not a hill I want to die on especially when neither the devs nor the forum moderators (and Brian in particular) owe me anything. If they're fussy about whether or not everyone conforms to the way they think it should be capitalised, that's their business I suppose.

Branding is very important for distributions. In some ways it's the only real identity they have.
You just try using the Arch logo without complying with their copyright restrictions and see how long it takes to get a cease-and-desist from them ![]()

Oh sure, it's just that the standard rules of English capitalisation were devised for a reason. I don't have as much of a problem with the word ending in a capital X as I do with the fact that the word must begin with a small 'a' even when it begins the sentence.
I may post more about this later.

I have to admit that I am now strongly tempted to create a new account over at the antiX forums with the username "ANTIx" just to see how Brian would react.
Just please tell me you spell "systemd" correctly :-)
Spelling
Yes, it is written systemd, not system D or System D, or even SystemD. And it isn't system d either. Why? Because it's a system daemon, and under Unix/Linux those are in lower case, and get suffixed with a lower case d. And since systemd manages the system, it's called systemd. It's that simple. But then again, if all that appears too simple to you, call it (but never spell it!) System Five Hundred since D is the roman numeral for 500 (this also clarifies the relation to System V, right?). The only situation where we find it OK to use an uppercase letter in the name (but don't like it either) is if you start a sentence with systemd. On high holidays you may also spell it sÿstëmd. But then again, Système D is not an acceptable spelling and something completely different (though kinda fitting).

Version 12.10 of deadbang is now uploading to SourceForge and should be available soon.
This is an update to bring it level with Debian's 12.10 point release. It has been built with the trixie version of live-build, which doesn't produce .zsync packages any more so they've gone. I added the explicit secure mirror configuration lines discussed here and the en_US.UTF-8 locale is now always available irrespective of the selected locale[1].

Excellent! Well done on your good work.

^ Thank you, your kind words are much appreciated :-)
And I've just noticed the amd64 image is ~200MiB smaller for some reason. Result! \o/
EDIT: changes in full for the curious: https://git.sr.ht/~head_on_a_stick/dead … a3011711bd
And yes, I forgot to push the changes for v12.9, boy was that confusing when updating for this release... ![]()

Very busy these days, but will check it out some day. Really great to see that you are still @it, Head_on_a_Stick, since deadbang is a really cool alternative, thank you. ![]()

Apologies for the delay[1] but the trixie release for deadbang should be available soon.
I've moved to mate-polkit but xautolock is no longer available. I do intend to find another screenlocker solution but not right now.
The trixie installer leaves no sources, which is irritating. I've used these lines in config/includes.installer/preseed.cfg to correct that:
d-i preseed/late_command string printf 'Types: deb\nURIs: http://deb.debian.org/debian/\nSuites: trixie trixie-updates\nComponents: main contrib non-free non-free-firmware\nSigned-By: /usr/share/keyrings/debian-archive-keyring.gpg\n\nTypes: deb\nURIs: http://deb.debian.org/debian-security/\nSuites: trixie-security\nComponents: main contrib non-free non-free-firmware\nSigned-By: /usr/share/keyrings/debian-archive-keyring.gpg' > /target/etc/apt/sources.list.d/deadbang.sources ; in-target apt updateStupid hack but apparently the lack of sources is not considered a bug by the Debian developers.
[1] I was detained in hospital during the trixie release, under Section 2 of the UK's Mental Health Act. DeepSeek drove me mad while we were creating a formal logical proof for a Theory of Everything.

That's correct.
He only writes an /etc/apt/sources.list because I also searched for the sources. ![]()

I haven't looked into it properly but I do hope Debian fix this. Seems like a strange bug to have on release.
Anyway, here's a full list of the trixie changes for the curious: https://git.sr.ht/~head_on_a_stick/dead … 2Fdeadbang

how is Sid?
She is her usual obstreperous self. My granddaughter gets swiped every time she passes her in the hall. Bad Sidney!

Debian have already pushed out the first point update for trixie so I've updated deadbang and added xss-lock so it now has a screenlocker again.
The amd64 v13.1.0 should be available for download soon and I will be updating the i386 bookworm image to the 12.11 point release as well.
