No it's true, we're good in that respect and I think you have to pick your battles anyway. I got into trouble on the old ConnochaetOS forum (about twelve years ago) because I was open about the fact that I used closed source software such as Opera and Softmaker Office, and that was a big "no-no" on there; they were very much a "free software" distro (they've long since closed down unfortunately).

I greatly respect the FSF and am glad it exists, but I have no great wish to join them; some of the offerings I've tried from them haven't been very stable to say the least.

With the current and fairly minor spat I've been having on the antiX boards over how I capitalise the name of their distro, it's not a hill I want to die on especially when neither the devs nor the forum moderators (and Brian in particular) owe me anything. If they're fussy about whether or not everyone conforms to the way they think it should be capitalised, that's their business I suppose.

Branding is very important for distributions. In some ways it's the only real identity they have.

You just try using the Arch logo without complying with their copyright restrictions and see how long it takes to get a cease-and-desist from them

Oh sure, it's just that the standard rules of English capitalisation were devised for a reason. I don't have as much of a problem with the word ending in a capital X as I do with the fact that the word must begin with a small 'a' even when it begins the sentence.

Version 12.10 of deadbang is now uploading to SourceForge and should be available soon.

This is an update to bring it level with Debian's 12.10 point release. It has been built with the trixie version of live-build, which doesn't produce .zsync packages any more so they've gone. I added the explicit secure mirror configuration lines discussed here and the en_US.UTF-8 locale is now always available irrespective of the selected locale[1].

Apologies for the delay[1] but the trixie release for deadbang should be available soon.

I've moved to mate-polkit but xautolock is no longer available. I do intend to find another screenlocker solution but not right now.

The trixie installer leaves no sources, which is irritating. I've used these lines in config/includes.installer/preseed.cfg to correct that:

Stupid hack but apparently the lack of sources is not considered a bug by the Debian developers.

He only writes an /etc/apt/sources.list because I also searched for the sources.

Debian have already pushed out the first point update for trixie so I've updated deadbang and added xss-lock so it now has a screenlocker again.

The amd64 v13.1.0 should be available for download soon and I will be updating the i386 bookworm image to the 12.11 point release as well.
