Budgie - Squawk, their second album. Definitely some touches of prog in between the heavier stuff.

^^ I'm playing the ballad "Young Is A World" at the moment.
Great album. I don't know why the band didn't have more success; maybe they didn't have a strong enough image or get promoted enough by their record company. The singer sounds a lot like Geddy Lee of Rush, and Tony Bourge, the guitarist on this one, was very underrated as a musician.
To me the two standout tracks are the ones at the end of each side of the LP; "Hot As A Docker's Armpit" and "Stranded." "Stranded like a minute, stranded in the hour"; what a line!
[I think they're worth linking to in their own right;

Yes, how come did Budgie not have more success? Maybe they not were at the right place at the right time? They did not have the little luck to make it big? Wrong record company at the right time in music history? Too much of the Budgie originality in their music maybe? Or just not 6y enough? One of the truly big mysteries in life.
Below link to "Never Turn Your Back On A Friend", great third album.

I agree, I don't really know. One rock magazine supplement I once read suggested that they lacked a clear image and this was what held them back.
Anyway, "Sky High Percentage" from the "If I Were Britannia I'd Waive The Rules" album;
