VirtualBox --style Adwaita-Dark

When I use that, i get:

Qt WARNING: QApplication: invalid style override 'Adwaita-Dark' passed, ignoring it.

But I prefer to set an alias. In my ~.bash_aliases I had from before:

alias virtualbox="QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=qt5ct virtualbox"

But I find that

alias virtualbox="VirtualBox --style Fusion"

works better. Now also the text is bigger. In ~.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini, I has now font size 14. With "--style Fusion", the font in Virtualbox is also bigger.

Re: Beryllium Theming

I'm using Bullseye with VirtualBox installed from the debian-fasttrack repo, which when fed a non listed style spits out a very similar list, except it also includes Adwaita & Adwaita-Dark.

Maybe Debian tweak theirs a little?

They must have. I'm running Oracle and get:

Re: Beryllium Theming

In which case Fusion works well. Though I think I'll stick with the Debian supplied one to get the extra style, it goes really nice in Bunsen.  I didn't even think of cross checking to see if the Debian & Oracle supplied versions behaved differently.  The Debian supplied one tends to lag slightly in terms of available version.

Re: Beryllium Theming

OK it appears that since posting & now.. the Adwaita-Dark option, which I really liked, & the available options have changed... which is a hazard with fasttrack.. and/or following upstream... It literally worked last week & doesn't now...

Furthermore it's sufficient disappointment I'm inclined to file a bug asking for the option to be put back.

After all it's potentially an accessibility feature.. those of us on the Autistic spectrum sometimes struggle coping with bright light & jarring contrast.

Everyone cool with Dark-Earth as the default GTK theme?

I've been playing a bit with the three themes @sleekmason made, and come to think I like Dragon even better than Dark Earth. The extra darkness seems more soothing to me somehow, and the very dark blue-grey tints match rather well with the colours in @hhh's wallpaper, I thought.

Would anyone mind switching to Dragon as the default?

Dragon is an excellent choice. I have switched to it (with dystopia icons which fit very well tonally imo),

Re: Beryllium Theming

Dragon now adjusted just a bit further in scrollbars and radio buttons.  Probably pretty close now if chosen. ^ dystopia? Gotta look:) Thanks for the insight.

^ Dystopia was one of mine, based on a Bladerunner scrot...

I never finished it. Foreground select should be dark, for example.

Re: Beryllium Theming

Yes, dystopia was never finished, which I always regretted, but even unfinished, they work well with dragon theme (and a few additions to the inheritance line). I will stick with them for a while: it is a good icon theme, even unfinished.

I missed a step, to have Adwaita and Adwaita-Dark available at the start of that same list, first you must:

sudo apt-get install adwaita-qt

:8

Re: Beryllium Theming

Most items should now be adjusted for the dragon gtk-3.0 ,2.0 theme. The Openbox theme may change the titlebar a bit toward the darker side but not decided yet, and the Geany theme is now changed towards Dragon colors.  All can be grabbed from the NEW-BUNSEN-TEST repo here:https://github.com/sleekmason/Themes

There are two ways to grab these,(yeah probably a bunch more.) If you have git, or don't mind the download, you can just git clone the whole folder and throw away anything unwanted.

git clone https://github.com/sleekmason/Themes

Same thing goes if you just grab the zip file from the code box in the themes github. No need to sandbox when unzipping. Self contained folder.

Maybe there is a wget line or something to just grab the Bunsen test folder from the main THemes file? If so, please opine:) Haven't had time to look into it yet.

Anyhow at this point, the geany theme is ready for some evaluation to make sure things work properly.

New bunsen-themes now in experimental repo. Try the Dragon theme, along with BL-Beryllium.jpg wallpaper from the new bunsen-images-base and the Papirus-Bunsen-Dark-black icons from bunsen-papirus-icon-theme. All uploaded today. cool

These are all excellent.  If you saw how much I struggle with wallpapers you would laugh. Slap colors together to blend? sure! Have an imagination for a wall,  . .  nope. Good thing we have gradients For people like me I guess roll

Now I have chance to see the very nice wallpaper, I have to choose which way to spoil it a little on my 4:3 monitor.

If I set it to zoomed fill, like I normally do the logo displays as "nsenlabs", if I set it to zoomed, there's these bands top & bottom it fails to cover, centred I don't see the logo at all, & either tiled or scaled the logo is somewhat out of proportion.. tall & skinny.. Which matters not for the flame, but spoils the look of the font for the lettering.

Not everyone has (or in the case of my laptop can) update to 16:9 wide screen.
I'm not asking or wishing for a high effort strategy here, just crop a sliver off the top & a chunk off the right hand side to reduce it to 1280x1024 so the logo retains its proportions & ship it in addition.

EDIT: Exported to Windows, then used Paint & re-imported.  1280x1024 version here:
yc2EbWmt.jpg

The new Dragon theme is nice, I'll be using it anywhere I don't install VirtualBox, & certainly *inside* any virtual machines even where I do.  For VirtualBox hosts I'm afraid the software pretty much ties me to Adwaita-Dark to keep things harmonious.

Re: Beryllium Theming

1440x900?
Neither fish nor fowl, though even then the whole logo is on screen, it'd be fine I suspect with the tint2 panel as shipped.

As for how you did what you did, I've no clue.. cutting the thing to fit is about my limit when it comes to image manipulation.

Edit. What I actually did was resize with preserve aspect ratio checked to get the correct height, then chopped off the right hand side.
