(No packages will probably be upgraded.)

I got the message, something like this "https://kelaino.bunsenlabs.org/~johnraff/ has no release candidate, is therefore per default disabled". So also bunsen-meta-all could not be downloaded.

Then you have not correct adress to the repository. Command:

$ inxi -r

will show your repositorys. Copy and paste them for us.

Re: HOW-TO set up an experimental BL Beryllium system on Bullseye.

Ok. I have a lokal mirror of repositorys here. Last sync was 09 pm GMT. "apt update" works ok for the Keliano mirror here.

Changed over to fetch directly from keliano-server and got:

Ign:1 https:/kelaino.bunsenlabs.org/~johnraff/debian beryllium InRelease
Err:2 https:/kelaino.bunsenlabs.org/~johnraff/debian beryllium Release
  Undetermined Error
[...]
Reading package lists... Done
E: The repository 'https:/kelaino.bunsenlabs.org/~johnraff/debian beryllium Release' does not have a Release file.
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.
N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.

So someting has happened att the server. Trying to pm Johnraff

Sorry, rbh, I am confused. Shall I do anything? Just wait? What is the meaning of "pm" here?

There is nothing you can do for the server. No package is updated after 2021-02-17. If you have upgraded after that date, there is nothing new to fetch.

If you are on a new installation, you can live with not updating until server is fixed. Or, you can download the packages manually and install with "dpkg -i *.deb"
You forst need to doenload and open file https://kelaino.bunsenlabs.org/~johnraf … 4/Packages (or the one for i386), så you know what packages to download.

What is the meaning of "pm" here?

PM means Personal Message.

I lost track of time. The second daily running of apt-mirror, was scheduled to 15:00 GMT. And the mirror is still working.

Sort of frustrated I converted my rudimental installation to a full-fledged Debian Bullseye/sid Xfce, to have something to play with until Beryllium will be ready.

Thank you very much for your efforts smile I did use your script to download the DEBs, worked fine, I am on multiboot so not much worries. It was a good learning experience.

Before installing the DEBs I did the kelaino thing again... and all worked well! Full success! Sorry for having omitted one "/" before.

Everything went fine with your instructions here, thank you very much (with a "little" help from rbh). Just one thing that probably goes without saying with you experts here, but if some Linux dummy like me has the same problem, here it is and the solution:

johnraff wrote:

Login to the new command-line system, and (just to make sure everything's up to date):

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade

Did I get no internet connection? You bet! It took me a lot of trouble and web surfing to find out how to get one. This worked:
Section "Using ifupdown" in https://wiki.debian.org/WiFi/HowToUse.
If this is so selfevident to everbody here, I apologize.

Otherwise, I already like Beryllium and I am looking forward to the completion of it. Will I end up with a fully fledged Beryllium just by continously updating this present installation?

Thanks, bunsencub

Re: HOW-TO set up an experimental BL Beryllium system on Bullseye.

Yes, much hw can nead som tweaking in linux. Often the hardware is not constructed with linux in the thoughts...

Wifi can be tricky. But, if you can get it working, you should not need to resort back to managed net device.

One of my laptops, lost network connection when awakened from hibernate/susprend. Comman nmcli, could get it back. Made a script:

#!/bin/sh
nmcli con up [SSID]
exit

and made an tint2 launcher for the script.

Re: HOW-TO set up an experimental BL Beryllium system on Bullseye.

Geany in this experimental BL Beryllium system not yet complete?
The present Geany 1.37.1 compiles this simple python program but does not "make" nor "run" it:

This is the program test.py:

inputString = input('Enter a sentence:')
print('The inputted string is:', inputString)

The essential error line after trying to "make" it is:

/bin/sh: 1: make: not found

and "Execute" does return only an empty terminal.
However, Idle executes test.py without error, and so does Geany in Ubuntu 18.04. Is there still something missing here?

Thanks, bunsencub
EDIT: Command line works, too:

$ python test.py

Re: HOW-TO set up an experimental BL Beryllium system on Bullseye.

Geany, is not Bunsenspecifik program. It is vanilla Debian.
So, the subject is a little appropriate in the bugforum.

Try in support forum, maybe: Help & Support (Other)

Sounds like you don't have a development environment installed. If all you need is make, then just install it, but it seems that geany may need something else installed.

Whatever - I don't think it is a bug. Remember that BL is deliberately light, so there will be many things you need to sort out for your own requirements. As @rbh says, ask in a Help forum section.

The addidtional program necessary to check Python code in Geany is 'pep8'
The package 'pep8' has been replaced with 'pycodestyle' in Bullseye, and no longer can be added to Geany for Python code checks.

You can apparently add 'pylint' functionality to geany.  https://wiki.geany.org/howtos/check_python_code

Thanks but

Why then was Geany chosen as text editor in BL, if Geany is missing its programmig editor functionality in BL? Wouldn't it have been more light to choose something simple like featherpad or so as text editor?
