When I start clipit form cli I see:

What could be done?

I have found that some clipit shortcut keys have been broken for a long time; and there seems to be a bug which affects the drawing/opening of the gui window.

I have to admit that I use them very rarely but when I`d like to, I would like to...
Could this be leading to abandoning clipit in the future?

Looks like Clipit will become deprecated as it's already deprecated in Sid (and will be removed at some point from Debian) and Diodon is the *suggested* replacement. Hopefully for a future BL release we will have a solid replacement for Clipit for when it's removed from debian.

I must be missing a brain cell but how do I install Lithium where helium was so as to preserve my Home partition? I cannot see where I direct the installer to use my designated OS partition which is 16GB sda1

An install creates a new ${HOME}, either in the root partition on the partition you specify, or where you direct it. "Preserving" ${HOME} won't install the new Lithium user configs, unless you create a new ${USER}.

I suggest backing up your user data, and replacing it into the new ${HOME}. I use a separate DATA partition, and symlink the ${USER} subdirs, which doesn't affect the new configs.

The location for root/home is set in the Partitioning section of the Install screens.

The first page of Partition disks - select Manual
On the next page, in the second section, the installer will list the partitions.

But that doesn't answer whether it's a good idea or not. Lots of changes from Helium to Lithium. Someone smarter than me can speak to that. Good luck.

Is the install script fully up-to-date? While I have versions running on my "newer" laptops, I'd like to play around with the unmodified BL-Lithium setup on an old 32bit netbook.

That`s sad news because espacially didion is not something I would really love to use. Eitherway, untill this distant future BL release may happen, we are going with clipit as is, right?

Yes it's still in Bullseye (I think) so the next release after Lithium (Beryllium) may still have clipit or somehow the BL team might keep a package in the BL repos.

Hopefully there will be a new clipboard manager that just works (TM) down the road once Clipit is retired from Debian.

Right now I'm using xfce4-clipman with no issues, but I haven't lbeen using keybinds. @Naik, give that a try?

Cups is a debian package. Availible in all Debian repo

Apt reads your sources.list but can not find package. So you must have some error in your /etc/apt/sources.list.

I suspect we'll see instructions about this in near future once the new version is shown to have most little troubles all figured out. With also discussion of pros and cons of staying with what you have and what you might get. This is one of the joys of community.

My general view is that if you have a machine you need to use for work or essential tasks, wait to upgrade. If you have a computer to play on, use that to try new things, and then contribute to the discussion. This is another one of the joys of community.

Yes, it was weird, as I did have the backports!

Brilliant work by the way. Lithium is way faster and two other benefits are greater battery life and the wifi works very well whereas with Helium it only worked if I held the laptop near the router!

I was going to state the same. Buster has some major improvements under-the-hood, and I think it's starting to get out of its "stable is old and boring" image.

Debian Stable is rock-steady and current enough for my needs.
