Change username

It is possible to change username here on the forum? I'd like to ditch Nili for another nickname.

Confirmed, just tried it myself as I was thinking of changing mine to "MAC the Bloody" (a name I have used elsewhere) in honour of some of my more violent ancestors.

Re: Change username

You have to bother a moderator if you want to change your username, or just register again. Would have been a nice feature though to have the ability to do it without bothering the staff. smile

Re: Change username

It would be nice if the moderator changed it. At least with requests for specific users.

The other possibility of starting from scratch with a new nickname may be possible, but i didn't want to lose the current data.

Yeah it's interesting having this abillity on the user settings, but on other side if we change the nicknames very often would be hard to known who is who.

I believe for this reason the creators of bboard/forums did not leave it as an option in order to not creating confusion of nicknames.

I'm okay with requests for mods.

Re: Change username

Even if the option is to change it once every say 12-24 months would be nice.

Re: Change username

Dobbie's concept is very acceptable to me, only if duration to be a little shorter, months of work.

hhh, Let's get the hell out of Nili and set up a new nickname?

Edit: I want to use "perasugu" without " " ofcourse.

Done. I have such sights to show you.

Can't do anything about the duration, you'll just have to make a new request in this thread when you're ready and hope a mod takes care of it.

Re: Change username

^OK done. smile

I don't think there's any need to make it any easier than it already is for users to change their names. It could get confusing for other forum members to follow conversations. Don't want total chaos round here...

...do we??

Re: Change username

Chaos, no that is unproductive.

A million thanks for the name change @johnraff, I feel much more comfortable now. And looking forward to the beta iso too! Meanwhile will save up some time and energy for it if possible. Too much chaos right now. neutral

Re: Change username

I'm well confused.  Username changes AND avatar changes.....I don't know who is who big_smile

Re: Change username

^Yes, it might be a good idea if people who request name changes are asked not to change their avatar for, say, a month or so?

If you want a complete break with the past then registering again under a new name would be the way.

I'm just being lazy big_smile But I was momentarily confused, let's call it Attention Deficit Disorder mixed with beer which is the issue.

Re: Change username

In fact, I think it would be good if changing of usernames was something people only did very occasionally, and with some reason. So, having to ask a mod is the way to go.

I just ran into this comment on an Arch devs thread:

...thing we have traditionally avoided is the changing of user names as users of the forums may be unaware that they are communicating with the people thay have communicated with previously who is now posting under a different alias.
