[SOLVED]Installer hangs on "Configure Network", "XMT: Solicit on eno1"

Hello folks,

I'm having trouble installing lithium on my computer. It's currently running helium and connecting to the internet with no issues.

When I try and install lithium from the disk it seems to go through the network configuration steps without hitch but it stops at the end with only "configuring network" on the screen.

When I go to TTY4 I see this:
XMT: Solicit on eno1, interval 122410ms .

As you can see in the picture, it says "dhclient[5648]: XMT: Solicit on eno1, interval 122410ms ."

Edit: I should note here that I'm not using the latest image of lithium, I'm using "lithium-1-amd64.hybrid.iso" because I made the disk a few months ago. I ran into the same issue then but was too busy to keep trying. Today when I tried again I noticed that I have run out of blank DVDs and so I decided to just try with the one I had already made.

What should my next steps be? I would appreciate any advice or help you can offer.

All the best,

Davy

Try to dd a fresh image to a USB thumb drive? Never run out of DVDs again. smile
Look into Ventoy. Just file copy an image to it.

It looks like one of two problems to me.  The first would be an outdated image problem because of keyring changes:

And the other is simply a bad disk.

Either way, it looks like you will have to burn another image.  I stuck with dvd's for a long time too.)

As eight.bit.al said, usb sticks really are the way to go.  Get 4-5 in a pack and reuse until you cant!

Back again. I'm afraid I'm getting the same issue when booting from the usb.

I have the latest ISO from the website on the usb (Ventoy looked very nifty but I had trouble getting it to boot so I didn't use it in the end. Just wrote the ISO onto the usb directly with Rufus.)

I recall now having the same problem before when trying to install Debian from a dvd to this computer. Do you have any more ideas of what I should try? Is it a problem with my computer or my network?

I've seen this issue with a misconfigured network. (been there, done that, bought the T shirt.)
Go over your network closely. Also describe it here.

Write Ventoy to the thumb drive with rufus. Boot it and run it's setup. Then it's ready for use. HTH.

Looks like the classic ipv6 config problem that many of us experienced on install.

Just remembered; try connecting the computer directly to the cable modem. Or whatever you internet is...

Re: [SOLVED]Installer hangs on "Configure Network", "XMT: Solicit on eno1"

I got it to work! Ever the practitioner of shortsighted grasping at easy solutions I simply disabled ipv6 for the installer by adding "ipv6.disable=1" to the installer grub menu.

This is the post. The 4th response in particular.

Thanks for your help! I'll mark this thread as solved.

I wasn't sure how to go about going over my network closely as you asked, would you like me to do give network information anyway to help with other people with this problem in the future? How should I go about doing that?
