Re: Browser Blues - FIXED

First of all, I have to ask:
Did you upgrade the distribution to buster now? I think not, but some of your comments are ambiguous.

In any case, I discoverd a serious problem here:

Regarding the version of firefox, I has assumed that my system is offering me the correct update, but looking on the Debian site the latest version is 68.2 (for esr)
apt-cache policy firefox-esr gives me:

firefox-esr:
  Installed: 60.9.0esr-1~deb9u1
  Candidate: 60.9.0esr-1~deb9u1
  Version table:

I've also been lazy and been using the bl-welcome script for updates, assuming that it first refeshes the package lists, obviously it doesn't. Someone here thought it was odd that I used this for updates, but If I find something that works once, I'll keep using it.

While using bl-welcome to update/upgrade your system might seem inconvenient to many, it isn't wrong per se and should also do it properly.
See here:

Even if you don't care about Firefox (which is sad), this indicates that most of your system could be outdated.

So please, run at least this part of the script (or better still, enter those two commands in a terminal) and show us the output or the bl-welcome log.
...actually, I think it's best if you start a new thread for that, this one is getting messy.

Re: Browser Blues - FIXED

It turned out that I was mistaken about how recent my last update was, so my bad.

My original gripes have been more than fixed.

I was hoping for a fix to the chromium issue, and that is done.
I wasn't expecting a solution to the firefox/livestreams issue, but that has come about too.

One I didn't mention, that firefox seems to stop spellchecking after a period of use, has gone away with the update to 68.2 (let's hope it stays away this time).
I'll mark the thread as 'fixed' if it's possible to edit titles here.
