Re: No wifi ( resolved )

Howdy Michel,  Please post the output of:

lspci -k

from a terminal. This will tell us what hardware you have, and which drivers you are currently using.

Re: No wifi ( resolved )

This shows your wireless adaptor and driver in use.

Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter (rev 31)
Subsystem: Lite-On Communications Inc QCA9377 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter
	Kernel driver in use: ath10k_pci
	Kernel modules: ath10k_pci

Wanted to get this out there for others to continue.  My networking skills are not the best.

Re: No wifi ( resolved )

I have no more time...
if the command above results in something like this

...
[ 7.218827] ath10k_pci 0000:03:00.0: firmware: failed to load ath10k/pre-cal-pci-0000:03:00.0.bin (-2)

then install

apt install firmware-atheros

I thought we already had that?

Can we please also see

apt policy {amd,intel}-microcode

If they are not installed then there may be a serious problem with the release.

EDIT: checked the live image, we do have firmware-atheros installed so that package should be present.

Re: No wifi ( resolved )

OK, try installing the .deb package for the newer firmware:

Re: No wifi ( resolved )

Yes, you may need a newer kernel as well hmm

But before we try that, let us first confirm the identify of the wireless card:

sudo update-pciids
LC_ALL=C lspci -nn | grep -iA2 net

^ The first command will update the PCI device database and the second command will show us the Vendor ID & Product ID:

https://wiki.debian.org/HowToIdentifyADevice/PCI

And another potential solution is here:

http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=127880

^ I don't remember that at all... roll

Re: No wifi ( resolved )

That device should be supported: https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Qualcomm_Atheros

Can we please see

ip link
/usr/sbin/rfkill list all

^ The last command may need the rfkill package.

Re: No wifi ( resolved )

^ According to that output you have not just one but two fully working wireless interfaces smile

Have you tried right-clicking on the network icon in the systray?

Can you see an option to connect wirelessly?

If not then we should check your interfaces files:

grep -v '^#\|^$' /etc/network/interfaces{,.d/*}

EDIT: thread moved to Basic Help & Support.

Wifi shows up in the Network Manager and shows available networks but does not connect to any selected networks.

Re: No wifi ( resolved )

Hello friends,

I solved the problem by changing my box (too old)
Now all is fine.
Sorry for inconvenience.....

Re: No wifi ( resolved )

Thanks for your reply Michel your probably right it is an old box.  but it works fine with the latest Linux MX and that runs the same Debian 9? same box same wifi

I really like the simple interface of Bunsenlabs but it looks like the easiest solution would be to turn back to MX or Antix
