Setup FTP server

I have been doing some google searching over the last few days, looking for ways to set up FTP to my linux machine, so if I am ever out and need to fix a bug or error on my site I can do so on the move rather than have to wait hours to get home to do.
Anyway more to the point, all I keep reading is you can not set up FTP on Debian 8?
Is this correct? Or am I ready misleading information?
Thank you

FTP server? All available FTP servers are truly annoying to configure. If your clients support SFTP, I suggest you look at using SSH's built-in SFTP server, much nicer. You could adopt the guide @ https://askubuntu.com/questions/420652/ … -on-ubuntu. The Arch Linux wiki also has guides which are useful for navigating the maze of FTP server configuration, but the most useful page is probably about vsftpd, so if you insist on FTP proper, try following that guide.

Re: Setup FTP server

You want ssh https://wiki.debian.org/SSH , now if you want ftp, from memory pure-ftpd was easy (apt install) and it will take system usernames passwords by default.

Re: Setup FTP server

I'd advocate for sftp as well. Stay away from ftp! It's not secure! smile
