Apparently he's already annoying people by saying that he will not be supporting Nvidia drivers. big_smile

Maybe he should hook up with the developer of Sway (that chap with the very posh sounding name). Both hate Nvidia, like Wayland and are "opinionated by default".

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

NRFPT

First up:
Frost Linux

Plasma on Arch Linux. with a bent towards developers.  ISO booted up and ran well.  Could not find an installer. None on the Grub boot screen, desktop, or cli mode. Too bad, it was quite snappy from the thumb drive.

Boot-Loader.th.pngMenu.th.pngFile-Manager.th.png

Next up:

releax os

Would not boot on real iron. Instructions show installing on a VM, which I did not try. Too bad, This one looked like it had potential.

01.th.png03.th.png10.th.png

And last:

Resilient Linux

PC distribution with the data partition mounted on top of a read-only system partition, resistant to filesystem-corruption.
No typical boot menu, straight to GUI setup. After user name, etc. blank screen. Dead. Screenshots via phone.

And this concludes this episode of, Not Ready For Prime Time.

edit: In the past my experience with a touch OS on a KB/mouse platform wasn't so great. PrimeOS was a pleasure to use on the desktop. There was a small learning curve, mostly remembering how things are done on Android.

Thanks for the info and PrimeOS will also be on my radar as I'd love to install this on my laptop so I can use my fave Android apps smile

Things should operate very much like on an Android phone/tablet except you are using mouse/keyboard. Maybe in future if I get a touchscreen laptop I'll use this even more!

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

For example, highlight/copy/paste. Double click on some text and the two delimiters of android's highlight mechanism pop up, so one can select the start and end of the highlight by moving the delimiters with the mouse. Then select from the usual Android menu of Cut/Copy/Paste/ etc. Single click brings up a single delimiter, to move the cursor into position.

Worked well and didn't take long at all to learn the blend of KB/mouse & Android.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

I haven't tested Android-x86 for a long time either, so I don't know if this is PrimeOS achievement or not, but it does seem useful.
Can imagine loads of use cases, having little VMs for WhatsApp or so.
BTW, it's probably blazing fast because it loads itself completely into RAM, as mobile OSs do.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

Download the installer and follow the steps below for installing PrimeOS

Launch the exe program and choose the drive from which you want to make a partition for PrimeOS.

Well, ain't that a kick in the butt with a frozen mukluk.

Re: Distro-hoppers anonymous

^ There's three download options, don't understand the difference.
PrimeOS Classic
PrimeOS Standard
PrimeOS Mainline (for junkies?)

Each one has two options, Window$ installer and ISO.  Most of us would choose the ISO. But if one was coming from Window$, the exe would be the ticket.

Just read further down the page - Manual Installation Process

Should be able to boot the ISO in Vbox or VMware and install to a virtual machine. That sounds like a good way to test drive it. I would love to try it out on a touchscreen laptop on bare metal.

Here such systems have been "rolling" for 8 years with LXDE, or 5 years with KDE, or 3 years with fluxbox. If you want to look:

tune2fs -l /dev/sda1 | grep -i Created
Filesystem created: Thu May 31 20:10:18 2012

inxi -S
System:

  Console: tty 0 Distro: siduction 12.1 Desperado - lxde - (201205212234)

In those periods, there hasn't even been a system breakage.

It is very clear in post #953, that @unklar dirirect his post to you, trenton. He qoutes only you.

For @unklar it ain't any pain to manage a sid system.
I also run sid (Siduction). It has crached a couple of times, but I usualey have fixed it real quick. As of now, it is broken again. I have chainrooted in to the system, worked for about 5 hours and could not find out any remedy. My Debian sid (with BL ontop) is healthy...
