Recommendations for books or online tutorials to read

Hello,

Wanting to increase my skills in using BL. I'm a recent Windows convert, although I've toyed around with Linux distros here and there in the past (I had #! dual booted at one point). Just looking for some general direction, thanks!

Full Circle Magazine, Free magazin. Focused on Ubuntu but has lots of info about other dists. Lots of guides for applications. Last issiue came in dec 2019.

The Debian Handbook, is good reading. Link on jgemnu => Help.

The Linux Documentation Project https://tldp.org, is another good source (quite much outdated info...)

If you want to by a book, take a look into Apress bookstore.

Du you want to read about just linux workstation or also infrastrukture (server)?

Re: Recommendations for books or online tutorials to read

Urukrama's Openbox guide from 2007 still holds up very well...

https://urukrama.wordpress.com/openbox-guide/

The Arch Wiki uses a lot of the same tips but adds to them and is up-to-date...

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Openbox

And, of course, post any BL or Openbox question in BL Help & Support. Many of us here have been doing this for a long time.

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

Re: Recommendations for books or online tutorials to read

The Linux Programming Interface: A Linux and UNIX System Programming Handbook

I haven't read it as whole, but chapters and it looks real.

A simpler one for starters might be

The Linux Command Line, 2nd Edition

also

Bash guide

Re: Recommendations for books or online tutorials to read

Just try to install Arch Linux, which will give you a good breadcrumb trail to work through the Arch Wiki, starting here.
When that isn't enough anymore, step it up to LFS.

Nice. The first suggestion could take an hour or two or a week or two.
