If you write it in computer-speak (YYYYMMDD), it is a palindromic date

Cool!
It is often written like that in Sweden.

So is this a palindromic date:

02022020

Why do you call it "computer-speak"?

I started using YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS in the military in the 60's

Re: A unique day

Yeah, I just realised they are both reversible  monkey

If file names start with "YYYYMMDD" then they sort automatically by time -  that's why I said "computer-speak". But "military-speak" might do!

Re: A unique day

shhhh it is actually an international standard, that to the best of my knowledge dates back to the early 70's - today it's called: ISO-8601

But this isn't about that - it's about 1 unique day.

01-01-0101 = 0101-01-01
02-02-0202 = 0202-02-02
03-03-0303 = 0303-03-03
01-01-1010 = 1010-01-01
11-11-1111 = 1111-11-11
12-12-1212 = 1212-12-12 <<-- EDIT: WRONG!!!
02-02-2020 = 2020-02-02 «««--- The last of it's kind, unless my brain is failing me.

But this is an essential piece of naming files that should never be overlooked:

damo wrote:

one "-" and HHMMSS without the : as some programs do not like those double-dots, makes a cool filename.

20200202-202020.png
or
20200202-220022.jpg

I use:

scrot -s '%F_%H%M%S_S11.jpg' -e 'mv $f /media/5/images/ ; mirage /media/5/images/$f'

for:
/media/5/images/2020-02-02_173020_S11.jpg

They still sort just fine.

Re: A unique day

AHA!  My brain failed me!  And look at that 909 years and 101 for the next one.

12-12-2121 = 2121-12-12

And so obvious too ... but then hindsight usually is.

Thanks Martin

Re: A unique day

Imgur's "privacy" link is at the bottom of the front page.
Imgbb's is frontpage>about>privacy
So I don't see much difference there.

Imgur's privacy statement is much longer and more complicated than imgbb's. It looks worse, but that could also be taken for honesty. I'm not sure if a simple "all your data is safe" statement stands up in the reality of today's internet. In that sense imgur's warning about third party identity aggregators is just the way things are IMO.

Your data isn't safe with any internet service provider, especially free ones who depend on advertising revenue. Just do what you can, and don't believe anyone.
