WOW Matt! I had never noticed you busy, It looks like a library archive. Better keep them hidden
Yeah, I don't often post a proper busy shot. I didn't include my editor or terminals in that one. That's what I love about i3wm and workspaces. You can be busy with dozens of windows open but nothing is cluttered.
@Sector11, thanks man

I literally only have a terminal open but I am happy with that too.
I was hoping people would notice my username and host name

The trick is you need to have five beers to notice.
Three, sir!
THREE beers to notice!

You make a valid point. Especially about the beers.
That is looking good.

A try at 'under a minute cpu render' using 'Intel® Open Image Denoise' in Blender 2.81
https://cdn.scrot.moe/images/2019/10/31 … minute.png (1 sample, 50 seconds)
https://cdn.scrot.moe/images/2019/10/31 … amples.png (200 samples, 15 minutes)
edit: A try to hit around 2 minutes (More realistic goal on this specific scene)
https://cdn.scrot.moe/images/2019/11/01 … sample.png - Blender old internal denoiser, 1 sample, 1:49
https://cdn.scrot.moe/images/2019/11/01 … amples.png - Open image denoise, 23 samples, 2:19 (I think that is use-able, actually Its pretty much the same as 15 minute, 200 samples version)
What have we learned:
a. Open Image Denoise is drastically better than old denoiser, or that
b. /me is very biased.
c. Open Image Denoise doesn't feel like people should use dof, although the docs says otherwise
The RT (ray tracing) filter is a generic ray tracing denoising filter which is suitable for denoising images rendered with Monte Carlo ray tracing methods like unidirectional and bidirectional path tracing. It supports depth of field and motion blur as well, but it is not temporally stable.
d. Deep learning stuff is here and plugged in a useful way for a clicky clicky user.

I wish we had something similar in Greece, I really like it.
What's the proper way to wish it?
Morbid Halloween, Bloody Halloween, or what?

The eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day
and in Mexico: Día de Muertos
I just say: BOO!
EDIT:
I can't "remember" the first time I heard "Happy Halloween" but I do know that it has never sat well with me.
I'm more like damo with halloween.

Hateful Halloween, Horrid Halloween, Hellish Halloween, Hideous Halloween...
The day when day and night are equal (actually a month calendar error...), a crack appears between the worlds and all kinds of spirits can wander in...
Guy Fawkes' Night in the UK (England only?), Nov. 5th, seems to have taken over a lot of Halloween at some point. I remember as a kid making a turnip lantern on that day
...elevator in the Brain Hotel, broken down but just as well...

Wow, we have some Halloween Haters here!
I approve.
@johnraff, the autumnal equinox is around my birthday, September 23. This year it was on the 23rd...
https://www.google.com/search?client=fi … uinox+date
The vernal equinox and the summer and winter soltice are all on the 21st. Fall floats around a bit every year. Because of Leap Years? I don't know.
Halloween is the second biggest yearly retail event after Christmas, and I hate Christmas, and I hate Jack Skellington and that awful Danny Elfman soundtrack, so nyeah.
-mod edit- Sticking the November thread. This is not the thread we're looking for. Move along, move along.

Very interesting stuff, I didn't know any of this.
I was just fed with what Hollywood serves us as Halloween, like everybody else here.
The extra info makes it even more interesting, especially the pagan connection.
Maybe it was because of the latter that we don't have anything similar in the orthodox church; pagans were chased mercilessly during the byzantine years, lots of ancient Greek texts and works of art (sculptures mainly) were vandalized/destroyed by the early Christians, only the ones agreeing with what the Church had to say were preserved.
The Orthodox church's view on the matter makes it even more intriguing for further research. Maybe they just ignore the fact that even Christmas has pagan roots, but anyway...
