Lithium Discovered

I recently came across mention that Lithium was discovered by the Swedish chemist Johan August Arfwedson in 1817. It would be nice if we could use the Arfwedson name when needing to title something, a theme maybe?

The Jefferson Lab, It's Elemental, web site entry is..
Lithium was discovered in the mineral petalite (LiAl(Si2O5)2) by Johann August Arfvedson in 1817. It was first isolated by William Thomas Brande and Sir Humphrey Davy through the electrolysis of lithium oxide (Li2O). Today, larger amounts of the metal are obtained through the electrolysis of lithium chloride (LiCl). Lithium is not found free in nature and makes up only 0.0007% of the earth's crust.

That's pretty cool ... I like the idea.

It was obvious, (to me) that's where I got the list from. Notice the list is in the correct order as they appear in the table.
I was looking for confirmation. Sorry I didn't make my question clearer.  I'll try not to  be such a pain in the butt in the future.  big_smile
I'm wondering if 'we' are going to stick to it literally, including Chromium, which might ruffle feathers. Long way to go till then.

Re: Lithium Discovered

Your "Inquiring minds want to know." made it all clear ...

Yes we are going to stick to it literally, right up to the very last one....

a. if we are all still here by then monkey - or -
b. unless we change our minds.   devil
. . .  which ever comes first.

We'll have computer chips implanted in our skulls before we reach the end of that naming scheme. You heard it here first.

Bunsenlabs Sodium, sprinkled with some salt?

https://linux.die.net/man/1/salt

Arfwedson Theme would be a cool name for an openbox/gtk theme.

Re: Lithium Discovered

If BL follows Debian releases, that's 2 years per release, so we can look forward to the Oganesson (At No 118, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oganesson) release in 230 years, or roundabout the year 2250.
Perhaps Spock will use it on the Enterprise.

One wonders when we get the Vulcan and Klingon options in the Debian installer.

Vulkan™ is an open standard and cross-platform graphics API that is compatible with GCN architecture

It offers a lot more than OpenGL, and will provide improved performance for 3D software using AMD cards wink
