Re: Debian Buster has been released

Was just reading the blurb on distrowatch.Adding apparmor by default is a good move forward for security.

"New installations of Debian buster will have AppArmor installed and enabled"

Will have to take it for a test spin.

Re: Debian Buster has been released

I have been having a look at buster with default gnome on wayland right now and i like it a lot.
Ok, not that much for it is gnome and the touchscreen of my laptop is not working as well as on BL but it looks quite good...

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

Re: Debian Buster has been released

Has anyone tried an installer iso/img yet? Just wondering if my attempt was due to a bad download? I was able to get the iso booted to the menu but abut 5 seconds in it went to a kernel panic. So that maybe tells me the download was bad or maybe the transfer medium, not sure. In a few days i will give it another try with a fresh download.

I use below method to burn to usb and the usb is ok as i can do the same with other distros and they behave.

sudo dd bs=4M if=debian-10.0.0-amd64-xfce-CD-1.iso of=/dev/sdb status=progress oflag=sync

thanks.

Re: Debian Buster has been released

How did you go bigben ? Yeah the iwilifi does not work for me either on the particular machine ive setup.

My issue must have been the download, i did the download via uget the first time, today i did the same download via torrent and the sha256sum checked out and the system installed without issue. I just dont have much bandwidth this last week and had to wait until the plan rolled over.

Havent played with it much but installed the debian desktop as well as xfce4, a pretty comprehensive setup and one that will serve my old grandpa well, as long as im around to give tech support.

Re: Debian Buster has been released

Going great, minor menu dependency issue, but it's pretty boring.
