Fullscreen across dual monitor

Hi Team,

I have two AOC monitors, same type, both 1920x1080 resolution. 'xrandr -q' gives the following:

I use Citrix Receiver to connect to my company when working from home, which is supposed to start a full-screen session and should use both screens, when available and supported. However, it only uses one screen. Moreover, any applications I try, they only maximize onto one of the screens, and not both of them.

How could I make my windows to maximize to both monitors and use the full available 3840x1080 size?

Thanks in advance.

... so it's NOT a citrix issue?

i looked at these search results and the first few don't seem to fit your situation. maybe the next few?

Re: Fullscreen across dual monitor

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure what causes the issue. I can't maximize any application across two monitors, so that's definitely not a Citrix issue. However, xrandr reports to see a 3840 wide desktop. So I am puzzled.

Some of the google hits suggested to rewrite the xorg.conf file, which I don't have. I wonder if that could cause the issue. Some others suggested to rewrite the compiz settings, which I'll try to check the next time I boot up the machine (maybe during the weekend). I checked nvidia-settings, and that also reported a 3840 wide screen.

As a side note, (I'm sure this is trivial to fix, just haven't found the way) somehow the wallpaper is stretched across the two screens, and conky only exists on the left (primary) screen, where the wallpaper is much lighter, almost the same color as the conky fonts. I'd rather like to have conky to show up on both screens, and the wallpaper to be the same on both monitors, but not sure how to do that. So again, why is the wallpaper stretched across the two monitors, but conky treats the primary monitor separately?

Re: Fullscreen across dual monitor

You probably need to enable xinerama to be able to maximize window on both screens. Look at your nvidia settings if there is an option. If not, you might have to create a xorg configuration file

Wallpaper issue: start nitrogen with --force-setter=xinerama option. This will let you control what background to use for each monitor. Not sure if this will give you the conky result you want though. Good luck and let us know.

Re: Fullscreen across dual monitor

If you start one conky, it will only appear once. If you want it on both monitors then you need to duplicate it, set the x/y positions where you want them, and start both.

Re: Fullscreen across dual monitor

I'd also see if openbox has some options pertaining to dual monitor setups.
