neither the extracted rct2.exe file nor the openRCT2.zip contain CMakeLists.txt...
Yes it does: https://github.com/OpenRCT2/OpenRCT2/ar … evelop.zip; https://github.com/OpenRCT2/OpenRCT2/archive/master.zip
Why are you trying to use a windows file?

Why not just port the debianized source packages from the PPA and rebuild them on the OpenSUSE Build Service for Debian? That way, others can also download and enjoy your work. I must have done that at least hundreds of times by now.
Barring that, it's also much easier to rebuild proper deb packages on your own machine using the Debian packaging tools that it is to flail around like this with the manual compile method:
https://wiki.debian.org/CreatePackageFromPPA
Woah...except the PPA has an ancient release...but you may be able to reuse the debian folder as a template for the latest one. http://ppa.launchpad.net/openrct2/maste … /openrct2/
Oh, wait, the develop PPA is up-to-date: http://ppa.launchpad.net/openrct2/night … /openrct2/
But have you tried their prebuilt 64-bit Linux static binary? https://github.com/OpenRCT2/OpenRCT2/re … _64.tar.gz

I just extracted the .exe with innoextract as described: https://openrct2.org/quickstart/extract … iles/linux
only this part got substituted: https://openrct2.org/quickstart/install … buntu-mint
by that one:

So you can run your game using Wine or Steam; or build it using the correct source; or run it in a Windows virtual machine.

in addition to that original rct2.exe file that i obtained from GOG as referred to, i am having this file: OpenRCT2-0.2.1-linux-x86_64.tar.gz from that page: https://openrct2.org/downloads/master/latest
from where did you have those two archives you uploaded here?
so basically, i am using two different guides and i should have got different archives for the 'self-build' version.... ?

I didn't upload them, I just linked to the github location (just 2 examples from the files available). Which you can see by looking at the url: "https://github.com/OpenRCT2/OpenRCT2/archive/master.zip".
I really don't know what you expect anyone to do for you. I keep giving you ideas which you don't seem to try, or at least don't give any accurate feedback

Regarding a feedback, i find it confusing in total...
You ask me why i use a windows file, but in any way openRCT2 is dependend on RCT2 which is a windows file, that i had to extract.
..then this openRCT2 file that i came across was for linux; it didnt have a cmakelists.txt.
Now i understand i can only substitute the whole process, since the openRCT2 that i obtained is not ment for any self compiling projects..
So fortunately i was not only given the manual to compile openRCT2 myself, you even sent me the link for those two packages now... but why were they never mentioned in that guide for compiling it myself?
I will now attempt the thing from scratch, keeping in mind that i already did the basics by installing the prerequisites.
Is there maybe some part of the guide missing? Like the outer conditions that would have guessed i am having that specific version of openRCT2 that you just sent then...?
Many greetings
