Hello, I've read Don'tBreakDebian, etc, and understand the perils of changing libc6. Does that include what looks like a minor update such this:
2.24-11+deb9u3 --> 2.24-11+deb9u4
On a related note, I see what looks like a kernel update in Synaptic (I'm not real strong in this area). Since my Bunsenlabs is running great right now, I assume I should avoid this (and maybe also avoid the libc6 upgrade)?
Thanks for any advice!

As long as you don't do a dist-upgrade (from one Debian release to another), by all means, just update to whatever Debian releases. The update you've liste is OK.
Also, do the kernel updates. Security fixes and suchlike are good to have. In Debian, you ddon't even need to reboot after installing a new kernel because the old kernel stays on the system. Technically you need to reboot to boot into the new kernel, but that can probably wait until you turn off/on your computer the next time.
To sum up: It is recommended to apply all updates if you have the opportunity to do so.

I usually reboot all kernel, libc and gcc upgrades, and anything else (systemd, network-manager, etc...) where I think services need restarting, but maybe that's being overly cautious.
I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

I tend to install the needrestart package, it restarts stuff that needs it, if it comes up with unchecked boxes for stuff it's unwilling to restart by default (lightdm & others), or advises a reboot (kernel upgrades firmware updates) then I reboot, sometimes it'll advise logout & log back in rather than a full reboot, which is slightly quicker. Otherwise I just let needrestart restart what's needed to be restarted.
On Debian stable I don't even examine the list of what's being upgraded, it'll be safer than Windows updates, & needrestart will guide me if I need to reboot or not.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed...
If there's an obscure or silly way to break it, but you don't know what.. Just ask me

That's very clear now. Thank you all for the advice!
