Unrar issues

The version that is available in the default repos isn't managing to extract files it should have no problem with. Looking at what's installed, it appears to be version 1.x, the version installed on my Fedora machine is 5.x. Could someone tell me how I would go about getting unrar up to its newest version please?

Re: Unrar issues

unrar is at 5.x in all current Debian releases: https://packages.debian.org/search?suit … ords=unrar.

Perhaps the package installed on your computer is unrar-free? Which is a horrible implementation indeed. Execute

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get purge unrar-free
sudo apt-get install unrar

to install the non-free version with which I had no recent issues.
