Bunsenlabs vs Monara

Can anyone tell me the differences between the above two distros as they seem to be the successors to Crunchbang, and I don't know which one to install on my Pentium Pro laptop.

Many thanks!

Monara is a light and fast Live installable distribution based on Debian 8.5, Openbox with Monara tweaks. Ideas changed since the first release. Its time to burn bridges. A nice auto updating menu was added. There is also full screen graphical menu. Click on the Monara Launcher. All open apps/windows can be seen by moving cursor to the top right corner. Conky can be put on/off with one click from Menu.

BunsenLabs Linux is a distribution offering a light-weight and easily customizable Openbox desktop. The project is a community continuation of CrunchBang Linux.

The current release is Helium, derived from Debian 9 (Stretch).

Actively developed (last package update was 2 days ago), and including our own repos, and extensive help is available from the community on these forums.

Try them both and decide for yourself.

Re: Bunsenlabs vs Monara

You can also try CrunchBang++, though I recommend BunsenLabs...

https://crunchbangplusplus.org/

The biggest defining feature of BL vs these 2 other projects is that our forum and our (international!) development Team consists of many of the original CrunchBang forum members, and many of us have been with CrunchBang since it was based off of Ubuntu, before corenominal switched to Debian. Our slogan is "A community continuation of CrunchBang Linux." Judge for yourself if we're living up to that decription of our distro. Also note that we have been listed as an official Debian Derivative since January 2017...

https://wiki.debian.org/Derivatives/Census/BunsenLabs

Both of our major releases, Hydrogen and Helium, have been announced and reviewed by DistroWatch, and our Page-Hit-Ranking there, though not a true indicator of popularity, has us currently within the Top 100 at 61 with 170 hits per day...

We've had our slip-ups, but we've tried to carry forward the CrunchBang legacy in terms of providing a stable, complete, easily configurable OpenBox-based desktop and an active, n00b-friendly forum. Thanks for joining our forum, BTW. smile
