Re: October 2018 Screenshots

if i may suggest: buy something used from ebay (or even better a local online ad paper; people selling there are usually cluieless and it gets even cheaper for you). it is usually much, much cheaper, and matured hardware is better for linux anyhow.
and while you're at it, you can sell the old machine for a few credits.

Thanks for the suggestion that is always very welcome ohnonot.
When I told my friend a salesman of these computer/hardware things, told me the same thing. Why do you spend so much money when you may get a better ones other ways for few bucks?

Actually, I wanted to buy a new one in the store, Almost i've made the money ready, But i'll take it into consideration maybe buying two or three used instead of buying a new one that can come in handy for tests, personal usage etc... I'll think it before i rush of course.

I'm not goint to sell it, I will do the gift to someone i know that like it smile

wow.maybe you should post a tutorial on that.

Not something exemplary and unprecedented i did, Just used a NETINST copy, installed using expert install (i am not a expert at all), but i said i must try it, unchecked everything on tasksel and i went on with --no-install-recommends still staying at X used a lot of info/commands from ReduceDebian. Up to this I had only 95 packages installed, Plain Debian Core.

"--no-install-recommends" later it can not be used if ones makes modification to "/etc/apt/apt.conf"

APT::Install-Recommends "false";
APT::Install-Suggests "false";

Proceed as above with only the necessary applications i needed keeping in mind KISS philosophy. Other tweaks/apps are made and gone over the time. More or less this is, great help/tutorial/info have been given thanks too many blokes @ #! then.

Edit: P.S. the DarK theme by sixsixfive's is one of the best imho. I use as a backup now, but used primary for few months.
Had very good experience for gray matter theme.
Also your conky is one of the good-looking style, I tried it when you throw the code here. Very unique.

It's beautiful screenshot, is the panel Conky piped to Dzen2?

Edit2: Just saw now. No, it's just conky-std a limited conky package by Debian.

conky-std: This package should be a good compromise for most users that do not need special features. It includes the following support: X11, XDamage, XDBE, Xft, MPD, MOC, math, hddtemp, portmon, wireless, ncurses, ALSA mixer, apcupsd, I/O stats, argb and Lua.

Here is the code placed at bottom of desktop:

# -------- own window to run simultanious 2 or more conkys
own_window_class Conky
own_window yes
own_window_transparent no
own_window_type normal

Not something exemplary and unprecedented i did, Just used a NETINST copy, installed using expert install (i am not a expert at all), but i said i must try it, unchecked everything on tasksel and i went on with --no-install-recommends still staying at X used a lot of info/commands from ReduceDebian. Up to this I had only 95 packages installed, Plain Debian Core.

this i will remember.

Edit: P.S. the DarK theme by sixsixfive's is one of the best imho. I use as a backup now, but used primary for few months.

unfortunately sixsixfive decided to take down most of their work.
none of it is on github anymore.
DarK is still on deviantart, and some others, but i don't think all of it.
some new stuff on gitlab.

Had very good experience for gray matter theme.

where's that?

Also your conky is one of the good-looking style, I tried it when you throw the code here. Very unique.

thanks!

The last update where just recently about a week ago. His theme is just awesome.
P.S. with Gray above, i meant his Dark theme looks more Gray than Dark on my eyes.

Kind regards!

Yeah, BL is sticking with GitHub for the time being.

please calm down & let me explain.
one can have world read accessible projects on gitlab just like on github.
however, unlike github, gitlab also offers private projects to non-paying users.
a new project defaults to private, or members only iirc. not the best choice imo, but it only requires flipping a switch in the settings to change that.
my guess is that sixsixfive is not so familiar with these settings; in other words they did not do that on purpose.
i just opened an issue to ask.

Re: October 2018 Screenshots

Switched from the default Bunsen OB to i3 and instead of copying the config from my other laptop, took the default and changed it only a little.
One of the great things of BL, besides sane defaults and a great installer is that all the tools for using a minimal wm are there and working, you only have to plug them in to the desired wm.
So, not much to see actually, but that was the goal:
2018-10-10-095139_1280x800_scrot.th.png
(The insane RAM usage is firefox on another workspace with an unholy number of open tabs. Without that, it would be around 200MB.)

Been happy with this new deepin-dark-mod theme.  Have only changed the wall so far.

The icons and widget stylings are here:

Re: October 2018 Screenshots

Great! Thanks for the links.

These packages have been held back in sid for over a week...

However, the desktop hasn't been broken once. To whoever is involved in sid package management, good job!

Re: October 2018 Screenshots

Finally got this just the way I want it.
Theme is DarK (adapted from this with some slight modifications & additions).

Kinda clean:

GTK2 + GTK3:
scrot-2018-10-17_09:25:54.t.png

Kinda dirty with terminal + openbox:

Kinda very dirty:

(i still haven's figured out the perfecrt dark fix for mozilla browsers, so i'm just using a light theme. anything else is just an annoyance?)

Re: October 2018 Screenshots

^ reminds of the game borderlands how the theming/artwork looks for some reason. Well done i will have to check it out.

Edit. Trying it out now and working well. Have you tried the Newaita icon theme, i think it goes well with this one imo.

Re: October 2018 Screenshots

Had to do one more. And with Ubuntu 18.04 with a light edit of Ant-Nebula, a mashup of Antu/Zafiro icons and with the Montserrat Alternates font.

Jxacz6tm.png

And the dark variant with same icons, font and terminal colors but a slightly edited Ant-Dracula theme.

i tried it, and some of the toolbar icons are way too small.

you also have spacefm there?
strange, it looks different from mine, well i use spacefm-ng, maybe that's why, but anyhow:
some toolbar icons are way too small, both on yours and on mine.

i think i will now go with Delft-Mint for a while.
