Re: blackbox on BL

Use apt to install blackbox. If you use key bindings, you'll need a key grabber like sxhkd or xbindkeys as well.

Re: blackbox on BL

Why blackbox?

There is no appreciable difference in memory usage:

5.4 MiB + 1.6 MiB = 6.9 MiB	openbox

2.7 MiB + 2.0 MiB = 4.6 MiB	blackbox

You would be better off just minimizing the memory usage of a sock BL install.

Re: blackbox on BL

Look at the fluxbox - openbox comparison I posted in the screenshot thread. All the *box window managers come in about the same regardless of distro. If you search the VSIDO forum, there should be a comparrison fluxbox, openbox, pekwm, and jwm.

You still on a quest to build a minimal system?

Yes, buy it's trivial so you're not going to notice any difference in performance.

Install fluxbox in BL and log in. It won't have a compositor or 3rd party panel running; the default theme for Debian is usable out of the box. Use it and see if you actually prefer it instead of going round and round with these questions.

Re: blackbox on BL

Indeed, your jwm build of Star Linux, or Zephyr's Crowz is pretty much what he's been looking for.

Re: blackbox on BL

I use jwm on an atom 64bit netbook with 2 gb ram, absolutely fine to use.
