HDMI connection to TV

Hi-I am attempting to connect my laptop to my TV through a hdmi connection. When I connect the cable nothing happens.I have recently carried out the same procedure using Linux Mint and the HDMI connection is recognised without a problem.I have tried to connect through VLC and Mpv with Bunsenlabs with no success.
Is there some setting I need to alter manually to get things working?

Re: HDMI connection to TV

Have you tried arandr (gui app to set up monitors)
It’s pre-installed in BL.

Re: HDMI connection to TV

please open a terminal, and enter

dmesg -w

then press Enter a few times (discard what has been printed on screen so far)
then connect the monitor, wait a few secs.
show us what NEW data dmesg shows now.

also:

xrandr
lspci -k | grep -iEA5 'vga|3d|display'
