Read & Write - iPhone (iOS) File System

I did search the forums but there is nothing specific about connecting to and transferring files to an iPhone .. did a Google search as well but nothing specific to Debian or BunsenLabs

I have tried most current methods detailed on other distro forums and independent tech sites .. just keep running into compounding dependency issues.

Any suggestions .. perhaps a detailed tutorial .. any help will be much appreciated .. I really dont want to install wine then iTunes or have a separate windblows installation.

Re: Read & Write - iPhone (iOS) File System

I suggest you look into how to use the package libimobiledevice-utils which supposedly provides a number of utilities to mount/pair/control/backup iPhones, particularly the ifuse file system for mounting stuff. File manager integration using gvfs seems also achievable. libimobiledevice-doc probably has some documentation, and  https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/iOS has some examples (note this is written for Archlinux, so some package names may not match).

I can't help you further since I don't have any iPhone to test this stuff with.

I don’t currently have any to test with, but have connected iPods and iPads to rhythmbox, etc before.

In my experience it’s never been without a few problems and I have resorted to iTunes.

I found that the older generation devices worked better.

@nobody Thank you ... have tried that already and keep getting stuck ... with some issue or the other ... as @malm said issues keep cropping up with every iOS release .... will wait a while for a few more answers to this post and then try wine+iTunes if nothing else works
