[SOLVED] Unable to log in using gui

During a fresh boot now, I am unable to log in with the correct username and password in the log in screen. After submitting, I get the same log in page back.

However, I am able to log in to tty1 using the same username and password.

During the previous boot, I noticed that I was unable to open the exit windows (menu>exit or by clicking the power button on tint2). I had to use the terminal to shutdown the computer. I thought it was just a hang.

Re: [SOLVED] Unable to log in using gui

i'd try

sudo apt install --reinstall lightdm openbox

Could be some X/driver issue as well.

I did try that however I get the error saying
You don't have enough free space in /var/cache/apt/archives/.

Upon some research, I tried cleaning

sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoclean

I also freed some disk space. And now I am able to log into GUI. I think the whole issue was with disk space and lightdm or openbox didn't had a problem by itself. Anyway, can't verify now.

Thanks. Marking it as solved.
