Anyone know how I turn off the tint2 pop-up notification shown in the attached image.

It's not tint2.

xfce4-notifications (I think), controls those popups.

Look for the entry in the right-click menu, or to get rid of them altogether, either delete the entry from your autostart, or remove the package.

Or are you referring to the network popup specifically?

I believe that is the notification nm-applet sends when the network is disconnected. If you don't need the nm-applet running, you can comment out the line in the openbox autostart file, or remove it from the autostart - not sure how BL is setting that up for this release.

Stopping nm-applet will stop all network notifications; is that something you want?

Right-click nm applet and uncheck notifications?

Thanks very much folks. That was so simple.
I'd checked everywhere except there.
Somehow it did'nt compute with me that it was only a network thing.
How could that be; wish my brain worked better.
Oh well you live with what you've got.
Thanks all smile

Alternatively you can run xfce4-notifyd-config ( I think) and uncheck it from the applications list. It's on of the better gui out there.

That message and the "Now connected" popup that nm-applet sends have a "Do not show this message again" button on it on my installs. You must have allowed it the first time. I'm sure there's a cahce file that can be deleted to run the original messages again, let me see...

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

You can toggle message options in nm-applet by installing dconf-editor, running it as user, NOT as root, and navigating to /org/gnome/nm-applet...
