^ cog, i think you posted this before.
io recognize the suru gray icon theme, but on my system the sidebar looks different, did you do something to Inherit= in index.theme?

I assume you mean the sidebar on thunar?
It’s because of Suru-Gray needing to inherit from Papirus in its index.theme for thunar or caja. Also, the system tray icons will be screwed up so you need to comment some stuff out in index.theme.
I would recommend cloning Suru-Gray from my git repo then looking at the index.theme.patch in my Suru-MATE repo. It will show you what to comment out.
If you set inherited from to Papirus, you’ll need to copy Suru-Gray/48/places/folder.png over Papirus/48/places/folder-blue.svg or you’ll have those nasty little papirus folders There's probably a better way to do it but I know that works.
@hoas
I’m very curious how to acquire true color support in xterm.? Also how does this affect ssh sessions with terminfo?

It needs ncurses-6.0-20180121[1], which means Debian testing/unstable, Arch Linux or OpenBSD-current; it won't work in BL-He :cry:

I have no idea, sorry — I don't SSH.

As you can see I almost have my Communitheme-Gray and Suru-Gray ported to MATE. Next stop will be thunar, openbox, and fvwm. I'm thinking of going with the 1977 windecs for the boxes. Let me know what yall think. I wanna release it with support for all the WM's I like
@hoas
good to know. I'll have to see if 18.04's ncurses stack lines up. What your saying kind of sounds like a git checkout date.

I’ve gone ahead and released the themes as version 1.1 since I nailed the MATE port. I’ll probably tag it as 2.0 when I get the boxes’ themes prepared.

https://github.com/willscreel/Suru-Gray
They’re also on gnome-look but really just point to the github repos.

thanks for the detailed info.
i did clone your repo (that's sam hewitt, yes?), but meson is not easily available on my system, so i could not build anything (what's there to build?), and just linked the Suru-Gray folder to ~/.icons.
I messed around witht he Inherits, and they now look like this:
Inherits=Papirus,Papirus-Grey,Faenza-CrunchBang,Humanity,hicolor
- but I'm still not getting the look you get, not with thunar and not with spacefm, and not at any icon size.
I don't get the blue folder if i use
Inherits=Papirus-Grey,Faenza-CrunchBang,Humanity,hicolor
instead.
i guess it's because of different versions of file managers (thunar:1.6.15) & inherited icon themes (Papirus:20180501-1).

@ohnonot
Please see my previous post right before yours. You can use my Communitheme-Gray/Suru-Gray repos there now without building anything, and with the 1.1 releases they will inherit correctly from Papirus now as long as you have it installed. I went ahead and added all the Thunar fixes so you can just use the themes straight up without having to tinker.
Here's where I'm at with OB..
