I remember #! having a thread like this for those who want to be adventurous and run Sid. Remember Sid can be temperamental and breakages can and will happen so it's good for giving a headsup for potential breakages in Sid and transitions will usually break things. Always watch and read what apt-get dist-upgrade tells you and if imprtant things are going to be removed best to wait till later on until all packages are finally synced up with no removals.

Sid's pretty good lately overall, but when stable is about to be frozen packages coming into sid will slow down, and once a stable release has been released the floodgates open and things can get pretty bumpy around that time so it is a good idea to pay attention then as well.

Reminds me when I was on Semplice & Siduction for a while.Always to check everyting before commiting to updates/upgrades.

I am familiar with both those distros as well, and Semplice was a darn good Italian distro till it was abandoned by g7 (Eugenio). Siduction is a fine distro in its own right as well. Agreed, when you run Sid it's a must to check for breakages or package removals before committing to dist upgrades. BL as a base is great even when upgrading to Sid and that shows how rock solid BL is even at a stable base.

Continuing the Dev forum cleanup, it seems we're trying to keep discussion here confined to improving BL helium (stretch) and developing BL lithium (buster).

Debian testing and unstable discussion is, for now, confined to "Help 7 Support (Other). Moving this thread to that forum, thanks.

Found something today:

Dist upgrading Libreoffice to latest version 1:6.1.0~rc2-3 removes:

libreoffice-style-galaxy libreoffice-systray and bunsen-meta-libreoffice. Libreoffice-systray is OK to go as it is now built in from upstream.

I had something similar today on buster regarding libreoffice-writer, 5 packages were held up from the upgrade. What worked for me was opening a terminal and running...

sudo apt install --reinstall libreoffice-writer

This should bring in the 2 new required packages to complete the upgrade.
