Re: didn't get welcome script

changer, please forgive me for asking, but how exactly did you "install" bunsenlabs?
yes, you dd'd it to a usb stick, and you say you installed it, but how exactly did you do that? have you rebooted after the installation, and removed the usb stick?

Re: didn't get welcome script

Can't be too careful.
No, the usb stick is not in I'm booting from a full disk encryption on a raid1 on two harddrives in my machine, which i installed bunsen labs on using the graphical installer from the usb stick. In setting that up i had to copy over the /boot directory to an unencrypted partition. It doesn't seem like that would have resulted in me having /lib/live on my machine, but maybe?

Seems likely doesn't it? If the live files clean-up is expecting certain things to be in certain places.....

Re: didn't get welcome script

Again, I think we need @johnraff for this one. I know the /lib/live directory is supposed to be removed during the installation process and that bl-welcome determines whether it should continue to run by the presence of that directory (IIRC, if you boot into a live session you'll see a flash as a terminal opens and then quickly exits).

It looks like your problems are due to your slightly unconventional partitioning/disk setup. Maybe a screenshot of your partitioning layout in gparted and a description of how your disks are setup will help.

My PCs have always had just one disk and I've always just chosen to mount everything under / during installation, so my knowledge of all this is minimal.

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

bl-welcome indeed decides if it's running live by the presence of that directory, which has been absent (as I think it's supposed to be) on my installed BL systems.

Uh-oh that's not actually supposed to happen - the script should do that test before opening the terminal at all. Thanks for the bug-spotting. (Have you noticed that recently?)

Re: didn't get welcome script

I'll need to create a Live USB to test it, and I may be mistaken. It's late here though so I won't do this till tomorrow, hold off on making any changes till then. Thanks!

Re: didn't get welcome script

Well that quick flash of a terminal used to happen, but I'm not sure how many updates ago it was fixed (I think).
